40 The Vaziel Clan (1/2)

At the same time in another part of town.

Within a huge room, that had a long table in front of a giant throne. Around the room all sorts of tapestries that bore the symbol of a phoenix on them. A massive pile of paperwork was stack on the table in front of the throne.

Situated around the table are at twelve officials that are all wearing proper cloaks, robes, and suits. They each were busying themselves in front of a stack of papers that were just above each of their heads.

Their hands worked tirelessly as they filled out document after document. Just before the throne, there was another table that was crafted from beautiful black wood, and a few items sat on the desk. A stamp and then some other knick-knacks and a few pens, before her, was also a large stack of paperwork.

Situated on both sides of the woman are two attendants. The attendant to her left was a woman that had a stern expression on her sharp features. Her hair was short about shoulder length and was half black half grey. Atop her head were two fluffy cat ears, that were respectively black and grey. Her tail curled around her body.

She's dressed in a prime suit that was impeccable, not a wrinkle nor a speck of dirt in sight. Resting on her pointed nose is a pair of round glasses, that makes her black cat eyes seem sharp and dangerous. In her hand is a thin sheet of glass, that has words on it.

To the right, the other attendant was a man that was dressed quite out of place. He was dressed in a full set of inky black armor, and a huge broad sword strapped to his back. His skin was the color of ash and two pointed ears stick out from the side of his head. A mane of blue hair is neatly braided down his head, and his glittering red eyes are on high alert.

Both of them standing guard to the woman at the throne.

The woman at the throne working on the paperwork was none other than Emberlynn. Her free hand was tapping the armrest of the throne at a slow pace. Her emerald eyes are skimming the paper at a speedy pace.

She's dressed completely in a white suit that looks like it's made of silky white gossamer. Her feet are clad in a smart pair of black heels. Her normally long ink-black hair was in an elegant braid. Pinned on her chest was a beautiful broach of a phoenix.

Finishing the paper, she puts it down and lets out a sigh. She closes her eyes and pinches the bridge of her nose.

”How much more paperwork do I have, Ora?” Emberlynn asks the cat-eared woman to her left.

”You're almost done. I believe there was a form about zoning to extend the walled area around the city,” Ora says her cat tail curling and uncurling as she talks.

”Mm. Package them up! I'm leaving, my daughter's just gotten back into town. I'd like to be home when she arrives,” Emberlynn says standing up from her throne.

”But your ladyship there's many more papers that need your approval!” A bearded man from the table in front of her says hastily standing up.

A few others at the table shoot him a glance of pity. It was ill-willed to get between the Governess and her daughter! It was like coming in front of a rabid dire wolf and its cub, you just shouldn't do it!

Some wished for the old man to succeed and persuade the lady. But that was just a pipe dream that they were too afraid to voice to the Governess themselves. They'd let the old man do it, he was the closest to the Governess.

”Oldman Raeran, I've been stuck in the municipal building for the past three days! I've tolerated it because my daughter was out, but now that she's returned, I plan to take a break,” Emberlynn says with a frosty look on her face.

But the old man wasn't going down without a fight!

”Your ladyship, please just finish the stack on your desk and then head home, the rest we can take care of! But those documents need your approval!” The old man with a bread pleaded with a pitiful look.

He'd suffered a real heartache when he'd taken up the position as her chief advisor. But he'd never let it get to him, the ladyship was a smart and intelligent woman. Who managed her domain to a standard he'd only seen in her mother!

However, the moment she'd given birth to the youngest of her children, she'd turned into a completely different person. This was when the heartache for the old man had really begun.

”Raeran this is the reason I have you! I'll leave you my stamp, you'll take care of everything for me wouldn't you till I get back?” Emberlynn asks with a raised eyebrow as she steps around the throne and towards the old man.

He opens his mouth but realizes that he can't argue with her.

”Because you'd never do something that I wouldn't approve of would you?” She asks raising an eyebrow as she walks closer towards the old man.

He lowers his eyes and takes a deep breath.

”Of course, your ladyship. I'll handle it in your stead,” he assent's, and the one that we're hoping he'd win hung their head in defeat. While the others all took a deep breath and buckled up for a long night ahead of them.

”I can always count on your Old man Raeran, I'll be back later,” she says as she pats his shoulder and then begins to walk towards the grand door just ahead of the table.

However, just before she can open the door. The door is opened and a surprised messenger stumbles backward before they almost run into the Governess.

”Governess, you have a visitor waiting for you in meeting room one,” a teenager with a neat outfit tells her. He was startled by almost running into his employer, but he quickly recovers himself. Effectively delivering the message to her.

”I don't remember planning to meet with anyone today! Ora?” Emberlynn asks turning towards her secretary.

”You're quite right. I don't have anyone on the schedule either,” Ora says flicking a finger over her magic glass.
