11 Few more years to live (1/2)
”You heard it right. Three million were killed. Not all of them were part of the Black List. It was only that they had interacted with the victims of the Black List. Even if it was only merely for a second that they had interacted, they were killed mercilessly.”
”What? But that's rubbish. One person would have interacted with thousands of people in his entire lifetime.”
”That's true. Fortunately, the B.A only killed those whom they had seen interacting with the victims.” Chief's face was solemn, with a hint of murder in his voice.
”Why go so far?”
”To remove all evidences against them. They did all that so that no one would know about the Black List.”
Yi Meng let out a noise of displeasure. ”In the first place, what kind of a mission was this Black List?”
”Black List was a mission that involved the research of certain scientists. Scientists that had disappeared from the surface of Earth. No one had any information about them. They were hiding in some secret place, researching about a drug that could possibly change the DNA of a person.”
”DNA?” Yi Meng frowned, she was familiar with this term. She had read it in the book of cures she had brought.
”But shouldn't that be impossible?” Asks Yi Meng.
”If it were a hundred years before then yes. But now, after hundreds of years of research, they have finally made such a drug.” Chief had a calm face, but his eyes betrayed his emotions.
”But approximately eight years ago, on October 10, 2010, something unexpected happened.”The Chief paused for a second.
”On that day, an earthquake took place. It was so massive, that the scientists' research centres were shaken up. The buildings broke apart and the drug that they had made, seeped into the soil.”
”What?! ” Yi Meng exclaims.
”Yes, the drug went inside the soil. At first, the scientists weren't concerned as even if the DNA of the plants or small animals living there changed, they wouldn't be able to survive because of this change. Their body mechanisms wouldn't work.”
”But what they didn't expect was that one organism managed to survive. Actually, we can't even call it an organism to be honest. It was as good as a fossil. Only that, through the years, it had managed to survive even as a pile of bones. It supposedly, belonged to a strange species, related to dinosaurs.”
”Dinosaurs? What are they?”
”It would be suitable to ask what they were. They no longer exist. They were one of the few organisms that existed before human race's existence.”
Yi Meng's eyes gleamed in interest.
”The strange organism, absorbed the drug and its DNA changed so drastically that it lost its sanity. Even though it gained a perfect physique, it's brains were lost forever. It only moved forward on instinct and killed those who obstructed it. Missiles, nuclear bombs, everything was tried but that fellow just wouldn't die. And that was when the despicable scientists because of whom this problem started, formed a plan and started the mission-Black List. And the ones who fell victim for this mission were none other than children from orphanages.”
”Orphans.” Yi Meng's pulse sped up. She felt a bitter taste in her mouth.
”These orphans were the perfect people for the mission. Black List was a mission in which orphans between the age of five to thirteen and with strong will power were recruited. Obviously, this couldn't be there in all orphans. So, the orphans were kidnapped from the orphanages and kept in laboratories for research.”
”Each day, they were injected serums of different kinds,asked questions. At first, it was only injecting of drugs. But then, they started torturing the poor kids. They felt that by doing this, the will power or the mental strength of the kids would become strong. I can't even say how horrible the conditions of the children were. Everyday they had to undergo physical and mental torture. Most of them died from a backlash of the drug. At an age, where they should be playing, they were whipped and made to work.”
”And all this so that they could get the children become as powerful as that organism.” Yi Meng says monotonously. ”The children couldn't do anything either. They had no one to support them. No parents or relatives. In the first place, they already had undergone many pains when they were young.” Yi Meng's fist was clenched.
Chief nodded his head. ”You must have realized by now.”
”I was one of the children right?” Yi Meng says curling her lips.
”It's safe to say you were one of the children that made it out alive. You were the stongest. The DNA in you changed but not so much, that you couldn't be called human. You are human, but in addition you have monstrous strength, high recovery ability and great will power.”
