Amelia was aware of Lucian's coldness towards other people. When they met for the first time, her first impression of him was that he was a very cold person and that he was unapproachable.

”Amelia, I really don't like living under someone else's roof. But I appreciate your kindness,” Claire replied as she insisted on staying in a hotel. It was obvious that Amelia's attempt at persuasion was ineffective.
