Jiang and her auntie looked at her with worried eyes.

”Rose are you alright?”, auntie Paulette asked.

”I'm”, Rosaline smiled faintly but her smile never reached her eyes.

Jiang was looking at her with his heart full of pain. His baby sister had became so thin and frail. He was worried that she wouldn't forgive her for promising her against her consent or knowledge.

After a lot reluctance he finally said the words he had been trying to say since an year ago.

”Rose I...”

But he was cut by her.

”Brother Jiang I don't blame you for what happened. It was not your fault. You were the head of the family and had to think of the collective welfare of all. If I were in your place, I would have done the same thing”

She said impassively and her eyes were blank. They lacked her typical spark and charismatic charm.

Jiang was quiet, unsure what to say next. Somehow Rosaline lack of blaming him made him feel even more guilty.

Rosaline knew that Jiang was angry at himself and guilt was eating him alive. During the time she had kept herself locked, she had plenty of time to think it over.

She thought about the whole incident from her slapping that heartless man to the fall of Wang family and the inexplicable receiving of help from some powerful businessman to save Wang family.

Also Jiang had been avoiding Rosaline for almost an year since he had made that contract. Rosaline couldn't understand why in the beginning but now it made sense to her.

He had been feeling guilty the whole time.

Finally Jiang opened his mouth to say:

”Rose you don't need to worry about it. He won't mistreat you. I only agreed once he assured it to me that you won't be mistreated in any way”, Jiang said, a feeble attempt to console his sister because both of them knew that Jiang held no power to protect her once she entered his mansion.

Rosaline smiled wryly.

Not mistreat her?

Her brother still had no idea that it all started because she had slapped him and the very reason for this arrangement was to mistreat her in the worst possible way.

Rosaline had no idea that what was that man planning. Because if he wanted to just have revenge, he could just have her kidnapped, given his power and status, and torture and murder her with his own bare hands and no one would get an idea where she disappeared to overnights.
