13 Chapter 12 (1/2)
3 days left. Seriously? Where are the days going? Since when had the hours decided to go on warp speed?
I dreaded getting up today, it felt weird. Like something's wrong, I just can't put my finger on it. Or maybe it's just the fact that I only have three days left. This feels like a death sentence.
With coffees in hand, I made my way to Lena's room. That's where she'd been working lately, she never lets me in so I never saw what exactly she's working on. She just grabs her coffee and locks herself in her room until lunch. But this time is different.
Lena smiled at me widely when she stepped out, closing the door behind her before I got to see anything.
”Hey!” she grabbed her coffee and kissed me on my cheek. With that, all my earlier concerns went down the drain.
”Hey.. So, still painting clovers today?”
”Yes. But first, we are going to have breakfast. I'm starving.” She walked through the hallway, tugging me along.
After breakfast, she went back to her room and I met up with Lester to hang out. Today is turning out to be a great day.
It's around 11, Lester and I, and a couple of Lester's new friends were hanging out. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and my heart raced when I saw Lena's name on the screen.
L: ”Asher! Guess what?” A huge smile crept in my face as I heard her voice.
A: ”What?” I mouthed 'Lena' to Lester and made my way to the empty balcony of the Café.
L: ”I'm driving!” The excitement in her voice is infectious.
A: ”What?”
L: ”I'm driving!”
A: ”Why? Where are you going? Wait, you're on your phone while driving?” My brows furrowed. I didn't know Lena knows how to drive, I didn't even know she has a car. But then again, her family owns a freaking hotel, why wouldn't she have a car.
L: ”Why? To get to places.. And relax, it's on Bluetooth.” I can hear the wind passing through the window in the background.
A: ”Okay. Where are you going?”
L: ”So remember the awesome cake I told you about?” Of course I did, we were taking a break from painting when she told me about it. It was her and her dad's favorite cake. They tried to buy the recipe so they can serve it in the hotel but the owner didn't want to sell. They used to eat it whenever they were in town.
A: ”From that café by that place beside the shop?” I heard her laugh lightly, I used the exact phrase she used when she told me about the café.
L: ”Yeah. The one that sells the awesome cookies.”
A: ”Yeah. I remember. So what about it?”
L: ”Well.. I'm driving there.”
A: ”What? Okay. I'm still here in town, I'm gonna meet you there.” I didn't know exactly where it was, but I can find it.
L: ”No no no. Meet me in the hotel, I have surprise.” Surprise?
A: ”What is it?”
L: ”Well it wouldn't be a surprise if I told you, now wouldn't it?” I loved the playfulness in her voice.
A: ”Alright.. Fine.”
L: ”Okay. So meet me at the Hotel in an hour. Or two. I'm not sure. Just wait for me, okay?”
'Of course, forever.' I thought. She hang up before I even got to answer.
I went back to our table and Lester looked at me knowingly.
Lena texted me when she got to the café, she was going to hang out for a while. She knows the owner and they haven't seen each other for a while. I love that she I'm still part of her day even though I'm not with her, she keeps me updated on how her day is going.
By 12:30 I'm already at the hotel waiting for her. I hang out in our room, going through the photos I took the whole time we were here. I had hundreds of pictures of Lena, from the first picture I took of her when I saw her in her balcony to the last that I took earlier during breakfast.
My phone ringed and I answered without even looking at who it was.
L: ”Asher!”
A: ”Lena. Hey, I'm at the hotel.”
