Part 9 (2/2)
”I know. It is the same for me.” She whispered, hoping that was true. Once she revealed that she was the boogieman to his race he may not still feel that way. Though Dominick's reaction gave her hope. The two men were very similar in temperament and ideals. She just hoped he would not reject her. She would not be able to handle it.
”Vladimir, we will discuss this tomorrow. Tonight, I will put my queen to bed.”
”Of course, your highness. Good night, Liza, my queen.” Vlad bowed formally to them both and exited the way he had entered.
”Let's go to our chambers so that I can give you a proper apology. Shall we, my queen?” Lucian told her scooping her into his arms. She let out a shriek and clung to his shoulders. Laughing, she kissed his lips with a smacking kiss, and allowed him to sweep her into their chambers.
Chapter 19.
Dominick walked into the library looking for Liza and his mother the next morning. Toby had told him that he had seen the two of them head in there earlier to hide from the arriving guests. They wanted to be out of the way of the commotion that the ball always created. Not that he could blame the two women. He hated the way this event turned the manor upside down every year.
Lucian was again enclosed in the conference room with the council. They were no happier about Liza and the King's relations.h.i.+p today than they had been the day before if the voices coming from the room were any indication. He entered the study to find Liza and his mother in the corner giggling like school girls. He watched the two women with a smile for several moments before clearing his throat.
”Really, Dominick. You do not have to be rude.” His mother said looking up with a smile on her face.
”Mother, may I talk to Liza alone please.” Dominick asked, needing to talk to her about contacting Morgana. Unless she could somehow sense a dark Jinn, they would need the other woman's help.
”Dear, I know who she is.” His mother informed him. He was surprised by this news. Liza had told her? That shocked him. ”She did not tell me I have known for years. Your aunts Marta and Dani they are slayers.”
”What that is impossible. You share blood with them to extend their lives.”
”No son, I do not. They have been slayers since they were eighteen. If I had not found your father I would have also been a slayer. That was always the plan in my family. Even after I got sick. Your father found me first however and I was turned instead to be with him.” Tricia informed her shocked son.
”You never said anything.” Dominick stared at her.
”Yes, how could I tell you that the boogieman was your aunts whom you adored? Then when you became a man, they were afraid that you would judge them harshly.”
”That is not true mother I would not have judged them harshly. They are my aunts.” Dominick glared at his mother now.
”I know that, but it is their choice. I could not take it from them.” She looked at her son with sympathy in her eyes.
”It is fine. They did not trust me.” His jaw clenched and his eyes burned a bit red. Poor Dominick, Liza thought. He felt betrayed that his own family did not trust him.
”I still need to talk to Liza alone, please mother.”
”Of course, darling, but know that your aunts do trust you. They just loved you too much to take even a small chance that they would lose your affection.” Tricia cupped her son's cheek, her eyes sad.
”I am okay mother. It just hurts that they thought I would reject them.” Dominick whispered. His mother nodded then turned to Liza.
”Do not forget that I will need you to help with my hair tonight. The gowns will be sent by noon. I cannot wait to see Lucian's reaction to your gown.” She smiled and left the Library.
”I just hope that I do not have to destroy it.” Liza whispered under her breath.
”Sit, what I need to ask of you will not please you.”
”I don't need to sit just spit it out.”
”Morgana needs to be at the ball tonight. I told Lucian to invite her again.” Dominick stated flatly.
Liza's rage was evident in the glow from her eyes. How had he never noticed that glow? He wondered watching her begin to pace.
”Why?” She demanded.
”A dark Jinn is coming here to a.s.sa.s.sinate Lucian. We cannot detect them. Can you?”
”No, d.a.m.n it. Not unless they are using their magic. d.a.m.n, you're right she will have to be here.” Liza growled not at all happy about this turn of events.
”You need to call her. Lucian asked, but she refused. Said that queen's drama was too much for her t-...”
”Ha, my drama!” Liza screeched, glaring at him the glowing becoming brighter. ”My drama. She's the one with drama.”
”We need her here Liza.” He told her with his hands held out in a calming gesture.
”Errrr....I hate her, Dominick. Fine, I will summon her.” She turned away. Dominick expected her to get her cell phone from the table only she just raised her hands and demanded.
”Morgana Le Fey get your a.s.s here now.” Dominick was surprised when the woman popped into the library. His mouth was hanging open in shock. Liza had just summoned one of the most powerful witches in the world. Holy s.h.i.+t, if he had not already realized how powerful the little slayer queen was that move would have made him realize. Morgana was at no one's beck and call.
”Must you always be so dramatic? It is unnecessary.” Morgana Le Fey glared at his queen.
”You are still a pain in the a.s.s I see, Morgana.”
”I am a pain in the a.s.s? Me? You just summoned me like a misbehaving child! You know I hate that.” Morgana growled, glaring at her.
”Get over it. You're the one who made a pact with the first slayer, not me.” Liza told her with a grim smile.
”Yes, I made it with the first slayer who was kind. Not an annoying little girl who likes to throw tantrums.” Morgana sat down picking lent from her sundress.
Liza glared at the woman. ”It was still your choice to bind yourself to my line. Lucian is in trouble.” She told her through gritted teeth.
”How?” Morgana demanded, looking at her with a surprise. ”You can handle any threat to him. Why do you need me?”
”It's a dark Jinn a.s.sa.s.sin.”
”s.h.i.+t. I see. Well then, I suppose I must prepare to arrive for a ball. Would you like for me to do a sweep before I officially arrive.” Morgana asked flipping from disdainful servant to deadly witch in seconds.
”Please.” Liza said sweetly, earning a glare from the other woman. Morgana nodded to Dominick and left with a pop just as she had arrived.
”You know that you are really scary right now, don't you?” Dominick asked.
