Chapter 19: Travelling in Style
After talking with Manager Lu, he finally got the authorization he needed to get to the Flowing River Sect. Manager Lu, the guard captain, and Van entered Manager Lu's personal carriage. The carriage was engraved with gold flowing rivers and jade phoenixes. Two purebred Valiant Red Eagles flew the carriage to the spirit shuttle platforms.
There were 5 large platforms for the spirit shuttles. The platforms were organized in a box-like shape with the biggest one in the middle. Only shuttles with important people would land on the middle one. They were usually decorated with glowing formations and precious materials.
The expensive carriage landed with a ”Woosh”, from the air being displaced at high speeds. The designs on the carriage drew a lot of attention from the surrounding audience. There were a few gasps drawn.
”Isn't that Manager Lu's carriage?!”
”I wonder what Manager Lu is doing out here.”
One of such lofty status as Manager Lu would only come for vital matters, such as escorting important personages. He had assistants to manage to the day to day activities of the Transportation Services.
”I wonder who the important person is. What if it's Fairy Cloud Feather?!”
Some in the crowd agreed with the person who spoke while others thought that it might be Fairy Soft Cloud or even a City Lord. They all looked at the carriage door expectantly. It slowly opened with Manager Lu and the guard captain exiting first. The guard captain held the door which an ordinary looking youth exited through a few moments later.
”What?! Who's that youth? An unknown youth gets such special treatment?”
A good portion of the crowd was immediately incensed. They were ready to see a beautiful fairy or a handsome City Lord come out, but rather saw an ordinary looking youth that you could find anywhere on the streets.
”If he's with Manager Lu, it would probably be best not to provoke him.”
The crowd immediately started to quiet down and a few looks of fear appeared on the faces of some of the people as they realized the existence of the hole they had almost thrown themselves into. Everyone started to look at the youth to see if he had noticed what they said.
Van was wryly smiling at the crowd. He had heard the entire conversation from start to end but felt that it wasn't worth it to pick a fight with these gossiping cultivators. In the future, he would show them when he rose to power in the Middle Continent. Everyone would know his name and look at him with awe and reverence.
”This way honored guest.”
Manager Lu gestured for Van to follow him. The trio and a few guards advance to the middle and the largest platform. There was a checkpoint managed by two guards at the 2nd Stage of Dantian Formation. Manager Lu flashed his identification and the group was quickly escorted to pick out the preferred spirit shuttle for transportation.
They walked up to the desk and were handed a few spirit jade slips by a middle-aged woman in cultivator robes. There were 5 Jade Slips to choose from. With Van's command medallion and the note from the Guard Captain in Mulberry City, he could use any shuttle at a heavily discounted price. Of course, Van picked the most expensive one. It was made out of Gold Spirit Jade and had many formations engraved by reputable formation masters and even a shield formation by a reputable formations grandmaster.
The spirit shuttle had the shape of a dragons head at the front was rather large. Van was given the largest room on the shuttle. The trip to the middle continent would take about 3 months. He would be provided with cultivation resources all the way.
Van had now spent all of his money and was back to the way he was in the beginning. He was once again B R O K E. Of course, his possessions were now worth many times more than his entire fortune a year before.
