9 The Mysterious Golden Orb (1/2)
Chapter 8: The Mysterious Golden Orb
The Purple Flame Bird pitifully shrieked. The flames seemed to have fled from its eyes as it fell to the Earth.
Van's bloodline retracted and he collapsed to the floor exhausted. An Lin blinked and wrenched her eyes from the battle to look at Van, starting to collapse on the floor.
She quickly ran over, caught Van, and slowly laid him down in her lap.
”What happened!”
She exclaimed, but Van didn't respond and seemed to have entered a dream-like state.
Van was currently in a forest. The pressure was so strong that his body was starting to break down. He gritted his teeth and took a step. This caused him to crash into the ground and disintegrate. He saw a jade wolf in the corner of his eye before he completely disappeared from the Ancient Dream Realm.
After about a breath's time, Van woke up with a startled look and started patting his body. An Lin had a strange look on her face as she watched this strange sight.
”What are you doing?”
Van, finally noticing An Lin's face, 10 cm to his left, jumped up and quickly responded.
”Nothing, nothing.”
A sudden thought came to Van and he tracked his trajectory. His cheeks flushed a deep red as he realized where he had been laying.
He could still see the indent of his head on her dress.
”Thank you.”
He whispered. An Lin's face turned a bright red and mumbled out a response. Van grinned and was about to give a teasing statement when he started to feel a bit woozy and collapsed.
His body seemed to disappear out of thin air as some strange phenomenon teleported everyone to different parts of the forest.
After a few hours, Van woke up in the middle of what seemed to be a large crater. There was a rich Qi energy that even he could feel it despite his low cultivation.
He had risen to the 3rd Stage of Body Fortification, strangely enough, and his bloodline seemed to have awoken even further.
He hadn't reached Dantian Formation yet, but if one at that stage looked in his inactive Dantian, they would find a red and black crown floating there.
He looked around to find many beasts around him. The weakest were at the peak of the 2nd rank, with the strongest reaching the early 4th rank.
Van paled as he looked around him, but felt a strange calling to the center of the crater.
”Might as well go for it. Right, Sanji?”
Sanji came out and squeaked pridefully.
”You probably could handle them.”
Van said chuckling.
He headed out and avoided the beasts to the best of his ability. The ones who did notice him didn't take the effort to kill an ant like him.
When he got near the center, he found 2 Emperor rank beasts confronting each other.
There was a Green Earthen Bear and a Great Golden Wyrm. The Wyrm had golden scales that were as hard as divine metal with retractable spikes on its body and the Green Earthen Bear had sharp claws that could easily dig up the earth below it.
Van watched from a distance and had to rotate his bloodline to keep himself from getting injured from the shockwaves.
The Wyrm gave out a loud roar and flew at the Bear. The Bear used its claws to grab onto the Wyrm and slammed it into the ground over and over again.
The Wyrm twisted its body and got a spray of white flames onto the Bear, causing it to yelp in pain and let it go. The Wyrm unleashed its spikes and sliced one of the Bear's arms off.
The Bear got a lucky hit on the Wyrm and dug out one of its eyes. The Wyrm screeched in pain and burned its bloodline of a true divine golden dragon, causing it to have a thick reddish golden mist around it.
The Bear let out what seemed to be a chuckle and burned its blood essence. There was a loud explosion and Van was pushed back into the stone face behind him. He fell on his knees, vomiting a mouthful of blood.
The Bear had many detached spikes pinning it to the Mountain behind it. Many unsuspecting beasts lay dead in a ring around the two. The Wyrm was on the ground, having burnt all of its bloodline essence.
Van wiped the blood out of the corner of his mouth and quietly moved forward. The Bear immediately noticed him.
”Haha! Gerald looks like neither of us are getting that golden rock of yours.”
The Bear chuckled for a few minutes before the light left its eyes. The Wyrm tried to move, but couldn't.
”This Wyrm should be weak enough for me to kill. That is if my bloodline decides to cooperate with me.”
After he said those words, his blood seem to boil and his thoughts were filled with a strong killing intent.
”I guess that settles it.”
