Xiao Shiyu brought Zhao Yao to a small restaurant.

At 6 pm in the evening, the restaurant seemed to have just opened for business. There were not many customers, but employees were still setting up more tables and chairs.

The lady boss greeted Xiao Shiyu passionately, showing evidently that they were familiar.

Xiao Shiyu carried Elizabeth and found a seat together with Zhao Yao.

On the way, the aesthetically pleasing Elizabeth, together with Xiao Shiyu, attracted the attention of numerous people. Elizabeth was rather indifferent to all that attention but urged Zhao Yao to eat quicker telepathically.

Xiao Shiyu smiled, ”After thinking for so long, I just decided to bring you here to eat. This place might not look very grand, but the food here is really good! They make food from my hometown, and it’s one of the best here! The owners are an honest couple, so don’t worry about the ingredients.”

”No problem.” Zhao Yao naturally did not have any objections, ”Not bad. Oh right, regarding Bai Quan…”

”Come to think of it, it really is weird.” Xiao Shiyu continued, ”In the early morning of yesterday, he was waiting for me at the office. I thought he wanted to cling onto me when I first saw him, but he bowed to me and said he wanted to apologize.”

”Oh, this is the case…” Zhao Yao smiled, ”Actually his personality is not bad, just slightly childish…”

”I’ll pick a few dishes first. Their claypot porridge, fried noodles, and sour vegetable fried rice are all especially delicious.”

”How’s the new house? 5300 square feet to one person, it must feel great right?”

The two laughed while having their meal. Although this restaurant seemed very normal, its food was indeed excellent. Their conversations were also more personal than before. They chatted about some interesting happenings back in university and laughed about them together.

People were like that. There might have been some awkwardness in the past in college, some embarrassing moments. But looking back after graduation, people will always find the experiences meaningful and interesting.

Zhao Yao then asked something he was curious about, ”XiaoShiyu, I remember your grades were not bad in college. You also interned at a big company, why then…”

”Big company…” Xiao Shiyu’s gaze left for a moment, before continuing, ”A 9-5 internship in a big company with a gym and swimming pool. There were yearly company retreats, and we enjoyed good food and also team building functions. There were even courses to improve our skills, I actually liked it a lot… But looking at the pay, I thought the money might have been too slow.”

Xiao Shiyu smiled, and asked Zhao Yao, ”Am I too practical? But there’s no choice, we’re only thrown into the cruel reality of Jiangmen City after graduation. All the aspirations back in college about changing the world and becoming a person of importance. Only when we started working did we understand how hard it actually was. Currently, I only want to purchase a house in Jiangmen City. Money comes too slowly through ordinary jobs and skills. I felt that the most money could be earned through sales, that’s why I changed profession.”

Xiao Shiyu’s words might seem casual but Zhao Yao could hear her bitterness in her words.

Seeing XiaoShiyu in front of him, Zhao Yao suddenly felt rather unsure of what to say.

Xiao Shiyu just smiled and said, ”Sorry, for spoiling the mood.”

After dinner, Zhao Yao sent Xiao Shiyu home. Walking on the road, a meow could suddenly be heard.
