Chapter 3: Capture Target

Today, I had breakfast with my father and mother.

Last night, I had slept soundly after that so I woke up well. I woke up with a grin on my face though.

I couldn’t help but think that Calfan did not consider the kiss as a greeting and so my maiden heart was tightening.

「By the way, Audrey.」

「Yes, Father.」

「The work of the bodyguard attached to you will be resolved in a few days.」

「……Eh? What do you mean?」

N-no way. Was yesterday’s kiss exposed?

No, no. In a world where love is prosperous, I do not think my parents will get angry at such things.

「The Gainas firm case has been settled. Calfan and his colleagues did a good job and the connection to the underworld was exposed. Last night, the people involved in the crime were all round-up at once. With this, Audrey’s body is safe and even if there is no bodyguard, it will be alright.」

Last night, Calfan had gone to make the arrest.

I became lonely and looked down.

「What’s wrong, Audrey?」

I forced myself to smile.

That day, throughout the whole day Calfan seems to have been busy as he had gone out many times. As for me, occasionally glancing at that form from the shadows caused me to become infatuated all by myself.

Then, while wandering around from a distance, I was caught by Calfan.

With the route blocked, Calfan’s beautiful face was right in front of me. My breath was caught. My heart was thumping so loudly I thought it would jump right out of my mouth.

Before the happily embarra.s.sing play, my hands and feet stopped working and I earnestly turned bright red.

「I’m not running away.」

I unintentionally closed my eyes.

「Do you dislike me so much that you do not want to see my face?」

「That, that’s not it.」

When I opened my eyes in surprise, Calfan laughed.

Kyaー, cool ikemen, Itadakimas.h.i.+ta (Another form of Itadakimasu)! Gochisousama desu!

「I will be waiting tonight too.」

Calfan whispered and brought his face close to drop a kiss on my forehead before leaving.

「……Forehead kiss?」

I went completely weak in the knees and collapsed by sliding down against the wall. I tightly grasped my hand against my chest to placate my incessantly throbbing heart.

That evening, I visited Calfan’s room again. Today, there was an answer to the knock and I was let in. He was talentedly wearing a tight s.h.i.+rt that adventurers usually wear and loose trousers. He seems to have finished showering and I could smell the soap we use at home. It’s the same one I use. It’s somewhat embarra.s.sing that we have the same smell.

Calfan is as expressionless as ever as if he’s forgotten what happened during the day.

Yes, it is slightly hateful.

「Well, sit down, Miss (ojou). Do you drink sake? I’ve also prepared a fruit alcohol that Miss (ojou) can drink.」

In this world, everyone drinks alcohol, which isn’t strong, even from childhood.

「Ara, thank you. Itadakuwa. (Another form of Itadakimasu)」

I reply while pretending to be calm.

With a refres.h.i.+ng scent and a yellow colour, I was handed over a fruit-juice-like alcoholic drink. He seems to be drinking a strong alcohol similar to whisky.

「The case has been solved, right? Thank you, Calfan. With this, I can live with a peace of mind.」

「That’s just work, you know.」

「Is this a toast then? Until now, you haven’t been drinking alcohol, right?」
