Chapter 20: The reward (1/2)

Fantasy System Shigun 27850K 2022-07-20

'System I wasn't the one who killed the culprit so why did I get the exp?'

[The quest only asked to stop the culprit. No one said anything about you killing him yourself. As soon as the threat disappeared the quest was considered done]

'...' Ed had a stupid look on his face after realizing that what the system said was true. 'Next time I need to make sure I understand the quest first'

Ed was injured and tired so he was sitting down on the ground when his father got to him.

”You've done an excellent job, Ed. If we waited for any longer your brother would have completely under their control.”

”I was just lucky I found out. It was harder to find them” It took Ed more time searching for his brother than fighting the enemies.

[If host used the Map he had gotten it would have been easier]

After hearing his system, Ed had a twisted face. 'Why didn't you tell me?'

[You never asked]

Ed's face got even more twisted. His father noticed it and got worried. ”Are you okay Ed?!”.

”I'm okay father; it's only my injuries” Ed couldn't tell him what was actually wrong, so he just blamed his injuries.

”Then let us return to the castle.” Arthur turned back and ordered some disciples to carry Ed and Griffin back to the castle for healing. However, when the disciples got closer to Ed, Raikou got in their way and put Ed on his back. He wasn't as injured as Ed and it looked like he didn't trust anyone with his partner.

Ed didn't forget to check on the orphan who saved him but didn't find him around. He probably left as soon as Arthur got to the scene. Ed wouldn't forget his help would help him when he finds him.

When Ed and the rest got to the castle they were immediately checked upon by doctors. They wounds were bandaged and Arthur gave them pills to help them with their treatment.

Ed and Griffin were now alone since Raikou left to sleep in Ed's room.

”Thank you, Griffin, if you didn't come to help I wouldn't have survived” Ed was grateful for Griffin's assistance.

”Do not say that young master, as a disciple of the sect and as a citizen of this country, it is my duty to help the royal family.”

”No, I need to thank you and apologize to you. When I met you last time I felt caution against you. So I presumed you were an enemy at first and even doubted you when this incident happened”

”... Then I need to apologize to you as well. The caution you felt toward me was probably because of my jealousy. As expected I couldn't hide that from you.”

”Why would you be jealous of me when you are the number one disciple?” Ed couldn't understand Griffin's thoughts. ”I was always bedridden”.

”It is precisely because of that. I always had to work hard, and I thought you who had everything didn't need to work at all. But today I clearly was mistaken, the power you showed was beyond anything someone who didn't work could achieve!” Griffin regretted the image he imposed on Ed.

'Well you aren't wrong exactly... the previous prince didn't work at all. But he was bedridden so it wasn't all sunshine and roses.'

”Then let us thank each other only and not apologize!”

”Agreed” Ed and Griffin's relationship would be better from today onward.

Ed spent two days recovering. After that, he went to his father to discuss the incident.

”So Ed, tell me how did you find out your brother was being controlled?”
