206 Chapter 206: Breath of Fresh Air (1/2)
After Caesar escaped into the halls, he immediately headed for the place gates. He was not too keen on staying with Ahri who was surely going enact her revenge on him for his earlier teasing. Thus, his pace quickened as he heard the door open from behind him.
Due to the fact that he was leaving Rahvin kingdom and was now was responsible for raising a child, his stress had naturally built up. Even in his past life, he didn't have any children, nor did he take care of any either.
Naturally, he couldn't talk about his issues with Ahri, as she dealt with her own difficulties as well. She was still mourning over her grandfather's loss, not to mention the fact that she was hell-bent on teaching Elizabeth herself.
As he thought to here, he exited the palace gates and headed for the slums in an inconspicuous manner. He adorned a black, long-sleeved shirt with a loose collar and rolled up sleeves, a pair of black trousers, and a bland set of boots.
However, even though he was wearing a casual outfit, his strikingly handsome appearance coupled with his distinct white hair garnered the attention of many. His frequent visits to the city were no secret and many pedestrians even waiting by the food stands so that they could catch just a single glimpse of him.
Alas, even though he was practically a celebrity, he didn't cater to the masses in the slightest. In fact, he didn't converse, nor pay much attention to them at all. Fortunately, he held an esteemed position in the citizens' eyes, so his lack of communication was looked over.
With this in mind, he soon arrived at the fox-kins' temporary place of residence. Their tents were scattered across the land, and the children seemed to be thriving. Many of the women were either cooking, cleaning, or taking care of their kids. As for the other races, they were adorned in thick cloaks while playing board games.
Joe was especially discerning amongst the crowd; he was currently drinking a few pints of ale while playing a simple game of checkers. His face carried a hint of red as the aroma of alcohol assaulted those nearby. Many of the parents had even told their children to steer far away from the drunkard.
Caesar couldn't help but chuckle to himself as he approached Joe, pulling out a chair and sitting beside him. A pint of his own subtly appeared in his slender hands as he took a few gulps, admiring the taste of the alcohol.
Joe was too drunk to even notice Caesar's presence and continued his game of checkers with another drunk fox-kin man. The fox-kin who did notice Caesar's unexpected appearance greeted him respectfully and carried on with their daily tasks.
Caesar returned their greetings with a slight nod of his head and grabbed Joe's shoulder, ”Joe, you need to start becoming more aware of your surroundings,” he whispered into his ear, to which Joe responded with a chuckle.
”Selective awareness my friend, a skill that I had picked up in the past!” he replied while bellowing out in laughter. His beard swayed left and right as he clutched his stomach with his thick arms.
Caesar rolled his eyes and continued, ”I'll be going on a trip soon,” he said, ”the destination is full of busty beauties, rich alcohol, and entertainment… I want you to come with me.”
