200 Chapter 200: Fate (1/2)

The next morning, Caesar awoke from his deep slumber with aching muscles. Merely moving an inch stung, and an indiscernible frown appeared on his face. The harsh training from yesterday was certainly taking its toll, thus, he could only grind his teeth and slowly dress himself.

His movement on the bed startled the still sleeping Ahri. She raised her upper body and rubbed her eyes, pouting ever so slightly. She had matured considerably ever since she met Caesar, but she still showed her childish side in the morning.

Her loose, night-gown barely covered up her breasts and her seductive yellow eyes irradiated a naughty light. Her current appearance would cause most men to nearly drool, however, Caesar was used to her silly antics. He merely smiled lightly and continued putting on a similar outfit to the one he wore yesterday. Simple and imposing.

Ahri frowned at his lack of response and also got up from the bed, ”why are you training so hard? Is there something you are not telling me?” she asked with a frown. It was normal for Caesar not to tell her anything until she asked.

Caesar sighed.

”I'll be leaving Rahvin kingdom within the next week,” he said, ”I am not sure for how long, however, it is very important I do so. A strong kingdom to the south is threatening our peace, so I must put an end to it.”

As he spoke to here, Ahri's brows further creased, ”when do ”we” leave, so I can prepare for the journey,” she asked. The subtle hint within her statement caused Caesar to smile wryly and shake his head.

”Unfortunately, I need you to stay here in Rahvin kingdom,” Caesar said, ”Elizabeth, my father, and most importantly, the fox-kin, need you. Your presence is necessary here, not to mention the fact that it will be very dangerous in Limbo kingdom.”

”So what?” Ahri asked, ”do you just want me to stay here, behind the safety of the walls while you go out and risk your life? Do you not remember who saved you from your last battle.” she paused as tears threatened to fall from her eyes, ”after losing my grandfather, I can't afford to lose you too…”

Caesar stroked her smooth and delicate face with his right hand, ”I understand your worries, darling” he said, ”however, Elizabeth and the fox-kin need you. No matter how hard we try, we can not change this essential fact. Stay here and I promise that I will return, and when I do, we can hold a grand wedding.”

Speaking to here, he loosened his collar and retracted his hand from Ahri's face. He was well aware of how conflicted the woman in front of him was. He fell in love with her kindness, even though she was the polar opposite of him. As the saying went, opposites attracted each other.

And as he expected, Ahri remained quiet whilst he left the room. She knew that staying in Rahvin kingdom was to be her fate. Taking care of Elizabeth and the fox-kin was something she needed to do. Alas, she also wanted to stay by Caesar's side.

Soon, the door creaked and Caesar left her alone. Right as he left, a small tear fell from Ahri's eyes. ”Why can't we just live peacefully… why does this world always bring upon conflict?” she whispered sorrowfully into her hands.
