186 Chapter 186: Aldo (1/2)

As Caesar left the merchants guild, he was in the middle of deep contemplation. The invitational letter that he had received from 'Requiem' explained many things previously unknown. First, the council was full of crooks that dealt with illegal goods, hiding from the eyes of the church. Secondly, they wanted to invite him to the council for his weapons business, and even went as far as to give him the title 'Earl of War'. Thus, Caesar could presume that there was a large group of people that disobeyed the church's jurisdiction.

This fact was very important for the future, as Caesar could potentially rally these heretics against the church. Although he wouldn't pick a fight any time soon, he knew that battle with the fleeting clouds continent was inevitable. He belonged to a race highly sought after by humans and he had already killed a few members of their faction.

Thinking to here, Caesar pushed open the thick, wooden doors and left the merchants guild, entering into the crowded streets. His current appearance wasn't very eye-catching and he quickly headed west, towards the slums.

He passed by the rowdy merchants, hagglers, and even some of the slave traders before finally arriving at the western side of Rahvin kingdom. The buildings on the side of the roads drastically took a turn for the worse and a foul stench wafted about.

The beggars looked at Caesar pleadingly, however, he didn't pay them much heed and soon arrived at the location where the fox-kin were temporarily camping at. A large number of the fox-kin were either eating, playing simple games, or sleeping. The residents of the slums could only look at them enviously as their stomachs roared in protest.

As Caesar approached, their image became more and more vivid within his line of sight and a strange figure could be seen speaking with Ebisu whilst Joe was giggling from the side. He was that same blonde youth that Caesar had observed on the streets earlier, he was the one who played the lute.

His wavy blonde hair fluttered in the wind as he flashed a few smiles at the nearby fox-kin women, causing them to blush ever so slightly. Ebisu, on the other hand, scrutinized the blonde youth with disdain apparent in his eyes.

Seeing this, Caesar didn't hesitate to step in and grab the attention of all those present. Although their numbers dwindled during the war, there was still a large number of gnomes, kobolds, and even furbolgs forced to hide within the tents.

The fox-kin were easily hidden, however, the other races were much more exotic. As such, Caesar had secretly ordered them to stay within the tents. However, he used a burst of mana to grab the attention of those within the tents as well.

Caesar clutched a few of his fluttering strands of hair and slicked them back as he observed the blonde man. ”You don't appear to be a resident of the slums,” Caesar stated, ”your attire fits those of the middle-class and judging by the quality of your lute, you're quite well off when it comes to money.”

In response, the blonde man bowed deeply, ”It is a pleasure to meet you, your highness,” he greeted, ”This humble servant was merely partaking in a casual a stroll within the slums, you see, I must grace all humans with my appearance, whether they are poor or rich.” he replied with a sly smile playing on his lips.

Caesar's brows creased as he rolled his eyes, ”I don't have time to banter with clowns,” he replied, ”now if you'll excuse us, I have some business I need to complete. That is, without your presence.”

The blonde man merely smiled widely at Caesar's words, ”Very well, my name is Aldo, if we are ever fated to meet again, your highness” Aldo replied and with a flip of his jacket, he briskly walked away with steady steps.
