49 Chapter 49: Qualitative Change (1/2)
*creak*
Caesar opened the dining room doors and scanned the room, the butlers were busy picking up the used plates and wiping off the table.
”Where did Ahri go?” Caesar asked one of the nearest butlers.
”She did not tell us where she was going” The butler bowed and replied respectively.
Caesar nodded his head and exited the dining room, he walked through the palace hallways and walked towards his room.
He soon arrived in front of his door and twisted the knob…
*creak*
He stepped inside and examined the room, he didn't spot Ahri so he shook his head with a wry smile and sat down at his desk.
*tap*
*tap*
Caesar tapped his desk while observing the map that was still unfolded on top of his desk.
”I need to prepare a large number of food supplies and clothes for the journey… I wonder if one of them knows how to cook?” Caesar muttered out loud while looking at the map.
He grabbed a quill pen and started drawing a path, he circled all of the pit-stops they would need to make in red. Once he was finished, he folded the map and tucked it inside his suit pocket.
Caesar stood up from his chair and exited his room once again, he walked down the hallways until he caught sight of a random butler.
”Where is Sebastian currently at?” Caesar asked the butler curiously.
”I think he is in the servants quarters teaching the new maids” The butler replied after contemplating for a moment.
”Thank you…” Caesar thanked the butler and walked past him, he walked towards the servants quarters and observed his surroundings. The servants quarters was not nearly as grand as his residence, however, compared to a normal person it was still quite luxurious… The walls were painted with a pleasant olive green and the floor was decorated with a vermillion red carpet.
Caesar walked until he saw a large wooden signpost above two relatively large wooden doors...
[Training Room]
*knock*
Caesar lightly knocked on the door and waited for a reply.
”Please come in”
Once Caesar heard Sebastian's familiar voice he opened the doors and stepped in.
*creak*
”Ah, it was you, young master… you need not knock before letting yourself in” Sebastian bowed after seeing Caesar walk through the doors.
The trainee maids that were being trained also bowed down after seeing Sebastian's respective attitude, the maid on the far right, however, once she saw Caesar a sharp glint appeared in her eyes.
Caesar noticed this anomaly but didn't pay it much heed and walked towards Sebastian…
”I need you to prepare two carriages and plenty of food supplies for me in two days,” Caesar said straightforwardly.
”How much food do you require? If you are going on a large journey we need to give you lots of dry foods” Sebastian scratched his cheek and asked curiously
Caesar stroked his chin ”enough supplies for 5 to eat on a 2-month journey”
Sebastian's eyes nearly popped out and he leaned in closer to whisper in Caesar's ear ”t-two months, where the hell are you going?” he asked perplexed
”Well, we don't actually need that many supplies… but you never know how much that dwarf will eat” Caesar whispered back in Sebastian's ear.
”Sigh, I will prepare the things you need. They will arrive in two days, you have my word” Sebastian breathed a sigh of relief and replied.
”Thank you, Sebastian, I will be heading towards the training grounds for today… I need to make sure my soldiers are still in shape” Caesar thanked Sebastian and walked out of the servant training room.
Once Caesar left the room, Sebastian turned around and glared at the maid that looked at Caesar with a sharp glint.
”Why did you look at the crown prince so disrespectfully?” Sebastian asked with a slightly angry tone.
”I really need this job but I will not bow to that monster, the hypocrisy this kingdom runs on is disgusting” The maid challenged Sebastian's glare and practically roared out.
Sebastian tilted his head and asked the girl in confusion ”what are you talking about?”
”Hmph, everyone praises that man as a hero, but, my dad taught me that only those who save and resolve conflict without killing can be considered a hero,” The maid snapped back
After noticing everyone around her went silent she smiled confidently and continued…
”He killed all of those elves and other humans without a change in his expression, a normal person would at least feel some guilt? I hate how the people in this kingdom look up to that monster as if he were an angel”
