31 Chapter 31: Assassination (1/2)
Caesar peered down at the enemy troops circling their kingdom, he smiled slightly and turned away. Caesar walked towards the broken castle gate and looked at the many bodies that littered the ground.
*step*
Caesar turned around at the sound of footsteps behind him, a girl with long purple hair and yellow eyes entered his vision.
”Thank you for helping me in this war Ahri” Caesar broke the silence thanked her sincerely.
Ahri stared straight at Caesar's face without a change in expression, suddenly she took a step forward and angrily punched him in the abdomen.
”I was watching your fight from the castle walls, why did you let that elf bit*h go? You could have easily killed her. Don't tell me you fell for her beauty?” Ahri said angrily while gnashing her teeth.
Caesar grabbed Ahri's waist and brought her close to him, he whispered in her ear ”are you jealous?”
”W-who would be jealous, it's just that your troops are risking their lives and your out there flirting with an elf” Ahri's face turned red as she came up with an excuse
Caesar let the girl down and chuckled ”those elves follow that princess religiously if I had killed her the elves probably would have continued to attack in an act of revenge”
Suddenly a devious grin appeared on Caesar's face as he leaned down and put a finger on Ahri's mouth
”However, if one of the humans they are allied with were to kill the elf princess what would happen?”
Ahri's face widened in shock before she moved Caesar's finger from her lips and asked: ”how are you going to manage that?”
Caesar didn't answer her question and started walking away… Once he was a few feet away from her he looked back slightly and said: ”you will see” in a sly tone.
Caesar walked through the frantic people on the street… He could hear crying and laughter.
”*sob* my son was too young”
”Haha, we aren't going to go down without a fight”
”Once this is all over I want to drink until I die”
”Can I get a doctor over here?!?!?”
Many different voices entered into Caesar's ears as he walked through the streets. Soon he arrived at his manor and walked through the door… the normally lit and rowdy manor was dim and quiet.
*step*
His steps echoed throughout the manor as he walked up the stairs to his room…
*creak*
Caesar opened his door and walked towards his closet, he rummaged through his clothes and picked out a pure black outfit, he walked towards his bathroom and looked in the mirror.
He frowned a little bit seeing his conspicuous long white hair so he put it under his clothes and put a black cap on.
Caesar was wearing a completely black suit with black gloves, the black cap hid the hair on top of his head making him less noticeable.
Caesar walked back down the stairs and sat at the dining table. He tapped the table in a rhythmic manner as if he was waiting for something.
*tap*
*tap*
The sunlight that was invading through the window started fading as the sun went down… soon the entire room was pitch black. Caesar waited for another hour patiently until he finally stood up and walked out the door.
The kingdom was quiet, there were no signs of the crowded streets that were present earlier in the day. Caesar walked to the ballista's on top of the kingdom wall.
Caesar stepped next to a sleeping scout and nudged him with his foot ”get up” he whispered
”Hmm, huh! M-marshall, what are you doing here?” the sleeping man went wide-eyed once he realized who it was.
Caesar didn't answer his question but instead stepped on the ballista and positioned himself like a bolt.
”I want you to shoot me upwards”
The soldier looked at Caesar dully ”what?”
”Pull the lever and shoot me above the enemy camp,” Caesar said again but this time with annoyance.
The soldier walked towards the ballista and asked one more time ”Marshall, just to get this straight you are asking me to fire you in the sky above the enemy camp as if you were a ballista bolt?”
”Yes” Caesar answered as if it was the most common thing in the world
”Marshall, are you okay? Aren't there easier ways to go about this?” The soldier asked one more time extremely hesitantly
”Just do it already” Caesar ordered
The soldier scratched his head and pulled the lever…
*WHISH*
Caesar's body immediately launched far into the night sky at an astonishing speed.
The soldier looked at the spec of dust that should be Caesar and grumbled ”I feel like I can rightfully state that I fired the most dangerous bolt in history” as he lied back down and went back to sleep.
Caesar was launched high in the air, he looked down at the many tents and torches below as he started to descend… ”hmm, this isn't as far as I thought I would go” Caesar muttered as he was falling down directly in the middle of a camp.
Due to Caesar's dark attire, no one noticed him in the air, went Caesar was about 10 feet above the ground he used his ice magic and froze the water in the air to form a slide.
*crack*
The force from inertia caused the ice to break under Caesar making him fall to the ground… Caesar got up quickly as if nothing happened and moved behind a nearby tent.
”What the hell was that noise?”
”I don't know man, probably a bird or something”
”Huh, why are there blocks of ice here?”
”Who knows, must have been the wind”
Caesar quickly breathed a sigh of relief ”are all scouts mentally retarded?” he thought to himself and quickly made his way towards the middle of the enemy encampment, he moved swiftly making normal soldiers incapable of even seeing him.
White tents were set up all over the place, most of the soldiers were sleeping but there were a few scouts watching through the night. Caesar snuck passed them and soon arrived at the middlemost tent… it was extremely large and painted green, there were two elven guards standing in the middle of the entrance.
A well dressed middle-aged man soon walked towards the two elven guards, the middle-aged man said something making the elven guards nod their heads and allow entry.
Seeing this scene, Caesar smiled widely and silently approached the tent, he formed an ice cube in his hand and threw it a few feet away in the opposite direction
*plop*
One of the elven guards grew alert ”what was that?”
”I don't know, let's check it out”
