12 Chapter 12: Assassins (1/2)
The coldness in Caesars eyes soon disappeared and was replaced by a warm smile, he grabbed her hand and shook it slowly.
”Nice to meet you, I am Mephesto Pheles”
”I am Riza” she gracefully smiled
Caesar let go of her hand and continued drinking wine at the table, after about five or so minutes he turned to his father and said.
”I'm going to go outside for a bit”
”Okay, I will be in here for a while longer then come outside to join you” His father replied quickly before continuing his energetic talk with the king.
Cesar stood up from his seat and made his way through the hall, right as he stepped outside he could not help but admire the beauty of the starry night. The wind blew his hair up and his clothes fluttered in the night.
Caesar starting reminiscing back to his past life… ”I really wanted to see his face after he found out I gave away all of my assets” he whispered to himself
”Who are you talking about” A ladies voice came from behind Caesar
Caesar turned around and saw Riza smiling at him, her blue hair fluttered in the wind and the moonlight illuminated her face.
”No one important” Caesar smiled back at her
”I don't know If I believe you, to put melancholy in the eyes of the great marshall of rahvin kingdom it has to be someone very important hehe” Riza giggled
Caesar didn't respond back and started walking down the steps casually, seeing that Caesar was ignoring her Riza's face scrunched and she lifted her right hand.
Wind slowly started to circle around Riza's hand, she put her finger forward and the wind condensed to a single point and shot out from her finger towards Caesar's back at a terrifying speed.
Caesar could feel her killing intent so he had already prepared, he turned around and lifted his right hand up… He froze the water molecules in the air to form an ice shield in front of his body.
”Bang”
The wind and ice clashed with each other and a loud bang echoed throughout the palace…the ice in front of Caesar was cracked however it still stopped her attack.
”I-ice magic??” Riza couldn't help but mutter is disbelief
Caesar didn't want to give her any time to attack so he pushed off the ground towards her, the ground his foot was on indented. Caesar closed the distance between him and Riza almost instantly, before Riza could react Caesar's hand was already close to her neck.
”CLANG”
The sound of metal hitting metal rang out, a sword appeared in front of Caesars nails right before they stabbed into Riza's neck. A man with short blue hair walked out of the darkness.
”Sorry to interrupt lord Mephesto but I can'tjust let you kill my sister like that”
Caesar looked down on them with his superior height and said ”you two are not apart of the church, who sent you and why”
”There is no reason to inform a dead man mister mephesto!” Anthony yelled as he rushed towards Caesar
As anthony rushed towards him Caesar started contemplating ”With all the sound we have been making the guards should be here already unless…. They were already killed..”
Thinking to here Caesar eyes grew incredibly cold and his killing intent spewed out. Anthony closed the distance and hacked down with his sword.
”Thud”
Caesar lifted his hand in the trajectory of the sword and opened his hand, once the sword hit his hand he closed it. Both Anthony and Riza expected it to cut his hand off but that was not the case.
The sword was perfectly caught in Caesar's grip, not even a small cut was formed. ”It seems my skin has thoroughly been strengthened from the last evolution” Caesar thought to himself as he tightened his grip.
”Crack”
Anthony and Riza looked at the broken sword with disbelief ”w-w-we can kill D-Rank monsters h-how are you so strong?” Anthony said stuttering.
Caesar smiled slyly and looked towards him
”There is no reason to inform a dead man”
Caesar grabbed anthony's neck and lifted him up, ”I will only ask you one more time, who sent you and why?”
Anthony looked at Caesar with resistance and refused to speak, Caesar didn't want to waste anymore time and directly started squeezing his neck.
”W-wait, I will tell you” Riza called out
Caesar loosened his grip on Anthony's neck and looked towards Riza… Riza gulped down her saliva in fear as she peered into those piercing red eyes.
”W-we are mere rank-D assassins from the assassins guild, our buyers are anonymous but someone paid a decent price for your head”
”When did they purchase you”
”Around 3 weeks ago” She replied immediately.
”Thud”
Caesar let go of anthony's neck and started stroking his chin in contemplation. ”That should be around time I was ordered to exterminate the elves, was it the second prince or?”
”Gasp”
