8 Chapter 8: Northern Fores (1/2)

The morning sunlight entered into Caesar's tent abruptly waking him up.

”Mmm”

Caesar moaned as he stood up and stretched his limbs, he put his outfit on and walked outside of the tent.

”Attention!” Ivar bloodfallen roared and all of the soldiers put their hands over their heart to salute.

'Step'

'Step'

Caesar walked slowly through the gap of soldiers, ”It seems I've gained their respect” he thought to himself as he was walking.

'Plop'

Caesar jumped on the back of the horse and the soldiers started marching… Caesar's army marched through the plains relatively safely, there were no more interruptions this time.

As the sun went down and the stars came out, Caesar looked towards his troops and yelled

”We will be marching through the night to make up for lost time”

”Yes, Sir!”

Three Days Later

-----------------------

”Clak”

”Clak”

A scout came rushing towards Caesars location with an excited expression…

”G-general, the northern forest is 20 kilometers ahead!”

”Good, call back the other scouts.”

”As you command”

Caesar looked back towards his soldiers and roared

”Make haste, the northern forest is only 20 kilometers ahead”

The soldiers all nodded with serious expressions and marched at a quicker pace.

After moving for about an hour a giant and lush green forest entered into their eyes. Caesar raised his hand and roared

”Halt”

The soldiers looked at him with confused eyes…

”If we get any closer we could potentially be in danger of the elven archers. We don't want to camp up in the range of the enemy do we?”

All of the soldiers nodded with realization apparent on their faces and started placing their tents up.

Suddenly

”Peeew”

The sound of a projectile moving at fast speeds sounded in Caesar's ear, his battle instincts warned him 'DANGER'.

Caesar quickly turned around and barely grabbed an arrow 2 inches away from puncturing him in the neck.

”Crack”

Caesar snapped the arrow in half and looked towards the forest to see a sole male elf standing there… Looking closely the elf had a smug expression.

”Looks as though we have underestimated their archery, camp up 20 meters back and place wooden walls around the camp”

”Yes sir”

Caesar looked towards one of his archers and beckoned him over with his hand…

”Do you need me general?”

”Hand me your bow”

The soldier had a suspicious expression on his face but handed his bow to Caesar

”Thank you”

If one looked closely a vein was popping out on Caesar's forehead. Caesar pulled the bowstring until the wooden bow was stretched to its limits, he placed an arrow on the string and aimed down the middle.

-----------

”Wow I'm surprised that general has a little bit of skill”

”Good shot Aladin”

Aladin smiled smugly, ”Hmph, arrogant humans thinking they were safe from my arrows”

”Bang”

A loud sound came from the plains where the humans were, Aladin turned around and fear showed in his eyes but it was too late.

”Puch”

The arrow penetrated his neck and exited.

”Thud”

Aladin fell down while trying to hold the blood in his neck… His eyes showed disbelief

”ALADIN!”

”CALL A HEALER”

”It's too late, he is already dead,” one of the older elves said with sadness

-----------

”I'm sorry I broke your bow”

”No problem general I can get another one”

”What is your name?”

”Sam”

”Good, I will remember your name and gift you a bow once we reach back to the kingdom”

”T-t-thank you general”

Sam walked away with fast steps, he was clearly excited about the new bow Caesar promised him.

Caesar walked around 20 meters back towards the moved encampment, the soldiers were busy placing wooden stakes to shield the camp from any arrows that made it this far.

Caesar walked into the middle tent and started contemplating ”I believe the king's orders were simply extermination, however, I am quite curious as to who the mole is”

About 1 hour later a soldier came to Caesar's tent.

”General, your orders have been completed”

Caesar nodded his head and stepped out of his tent, there were tall wooden stakes all around the encampment. There were 2 relatively large openings to exit and enter in the front and behind of the encampment.
