Zi Yan and Professor Luo Xia's eyes swelled up the moment they heard her introduction. She had accepted them officially and seemed to have understood the situation better than they had expected. Susu was quickly wrapped in their embrace like the ingredients between the bread of a sandwich. She smiled and patted the two a.d.u.l.ts who were trying to squash her.

She waited patiently and endured the strangling sensation until she really couldn't breathe anymore from the small gap that they left for her to between their hug. They let her go almost immediately after her comment about trouble with breathing. Seeing how worried they looked, Susu couldn't hold back her genuine smile.

During the remaining time in the room, Zi Yan focused on healing Susu's arm halfway. That was her extent in helping Susu recover her right hand. Zi Lan already knew that Susu would encounter a misfortune around this age, so her seal also formed a protective charm. This charm could only work temporarily and be used once.

Professor Luo Xia hmphed and stomped his cane twice against the floor; cracking the surface of the floor. ”They thought that you were a failed experiment and wanted to get rid of you. Grandpa will dig the culprits up and blend them to bone juice to feed dogs.”

”You said you could only remove half the drug from my arm. Then when the protective charm expires, will I die?” She stuttered.

Zi Yan massaged Susu's arm and checked her pulse again, ”dear, you should be able to move your arm little by little. Right now, you should be able to feel your fingers. In a few hours, your arm would be good as new. The only thing your arm can't do is carry heavy items.”

”Mm.. thank you, mom. I'm feeling a little tired right now. You and grandpa should go back for some rest. Chen Mu and everyone else is here if I need anything.” Susu smiled and reminded them to focus on things that they needed to do other than taking care of her.

They were hesitant at first, but eventually gave in to her idea. ”Alright. We'll come back to visit you later. Rest well, sweetie.” Zi Yan patted Susu's hand while Susu gave her a tight squeeze.

”Rest well. If you need anything, just tell Chen Mu to give us a call or message.” Professor Luo Xia said after giving her another glance.

”Okay. Let me know when you two get back to the hotel, so I know you're safe.”

”We will.” Zi Yan stood up from her seat and walked towards the exit where Professor Luo Xia was waiting for her.

The moment the door creaked open, everyone surrounded the old man and middle-aged woman with glittering eyes.

”We told her everything we wanted to for now. She's still trying to process what we told her. You guys could take a look at her, but give her some time and space. There's a lot on her shoulders right now.” Zi Yan relaxingly yawned and patted Chen Mu's back as if she was giving him a signal.

Professor Luo Xia also mentioned to the group that they should get some rest while Susu took her rest. Chen Mu thanked everyone for their help in watching over Susu. After that, he urged them to eat and perform their regular routines.

Lily took Ariana to a private shower in Lin Que's office and talked about sharing her skin products with her. Meanwhile, Chen Nan followed Lin Que to another room to take a quick shower and finish their meals.

Chen Mu waited and watched them head to do whatever they needed to do before knocking on Susu's door.

”Susu, it's me. Can I come in?” He asked.

”Yeah. Come in.” She sounded tired from the other side of the door.

After walking in, she reminded him to lock the doors. She wanted to have a private talk with him. Her body was shaking a little bit, and he could tell that she was tensed around him. He didn't understand what was making her concerned to this extent.

”Susu? What's wrong? Are you feeling sick or pain somewhere?” He frowned and placed his forehead against hers to make sure she didn't have a fever.

”I'm fine. Sit. I have something I want to talk to you about.” She patted the area to her left and moved towards the right side of the bed.

”Okay,” he took off his shoes and removed his outside clothes before getting into bed with her.

She leaned against his arm and closed her eyes for a little bit. Sensing something was off with her, he didn't make a sound after getting into bed. He waited patiently for her to speak out her worries.

After ten minutes of resting her eyes, she opened them. Looking up, she met his gentle gaze. She asked, ”If I am not who you think I was, will you still love me?”

Her question reflected her insecurities about her background. Even when she heard about how she was born into this world, she felt overwhelmed about it. It was like an unimaginable and unbelievable situation that only occurs in dramas and novels. How could she not doubt herself and the way others would react when she becomes honest with them?

In fact, she didn't even know how she would come out to telling them about herself. She looked at him with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. He could see the fear and insecurity through their eye contact.

He pulled her into his embrace and placed her ears to his chest where she could hear his heart beating. ”Susu, do you hear my heart beat?”

Her eyes shut as she relaxed her body to the rhythm of his racing heart. As if their hearts were connected, her heart started to skip at his pace. ”Mmm..”

”Good. I'm not sure what you talked about for the past hour and a half with your family, but you don't have to tell me about it. If you don't feel comfortable, then take everything at your own pace. You don't have to feel like you're covering up something or being dishonest with me either. I understand that there will be things that are hard to tell anyone.”

His fingers stroked her hair gently and loosened any tangles along the way. ”Sometimes, it takes a while for ourselves to adapt to changes too. So, take everything slowly. Like my heart beating at its natural rate. Let yourself work it out and if you ever want someone to listen to you, I'll be right here.”

”So, you won't mind even if I'm irregular? Like I'm abnormal...” He shushed her for a second after she let her words slip.

”Shh..everyone has their own stories. There are many people with the weirdest lives that we don't know of. If being normal means to get a plain job and live the rest of my life at ease, then I'd rather choose to go a different way. If being normal means that I can't be with you and take care of you then I'll choose to be the weird one. Nothing in life is a guarantee.”

”Therefore, whatever comes our way, I'll always knock down those obstacles with you. Always be by your side and face it with you. You can lean on me when you feel tired even without explaining anything to me. If you ever encounter any difficulties, I'll always be the man to support you behind the scenes.”
