Chapter 98 - Cold Feet (1/2)

A few nights before her medical examination, Susu couldn't fall asleep no matter how long she forced her eyes shut. Her mind wandered off to thinking about Professor Luo Xia and what connections he has with her.

She briefly remembered meeting him many years ago, but the number of times that they've met was countable using her five fingers. Although she wanted to figure everything out, there were too many knots and inquiries that pops up everytime she thought that she was going somewhere.

Finally, she couldn't take it anymore. She had questions and needed answers. Chen Mu noticed her twist and turns on the couch as he washed dishes. He opened the fridge and took out the carton of milk to warm it up for her.

After heating up the milk, he poured it in her favorite pink mug and brought it over to her. She was in the middle of a phone call with Shen Wen when he settled the cup on the table in front of her. Seeing that she was busy, he remained quiet and sat on the other side of the couch.

She smiled and made a flying smooch face towards him. He couldn't hold back the lovely smile on his face and sent two flying kisses back to her direction with his hands forming half a heart. After she used her free hand to complete the other half of the heart, he pointed to the mug and indicated using mouth actions for her to be careful because the mug is hot.

She bent her index finger and thumb to form an oval shape. With her other three fingers standing, she sent an ”okay” signal back to him. Shen Wen picked up the call after missing the first call due to poor connection.

”Susu! It's been a while. I'm surprised that you are calling. How are you doing?” Shen Wen sounded very cheerful when she saw Susu as the caller ID on her phone screen. She stared at her phone where she used a picture that had her and Susu in it for the caller picture.

”I'm doing fine. Actually, I have a few questions that I believe you could help me with. It's something that I would like to meet with you to talk about. Are you available to meet me any of the upcoming days?” Susu tried not to sound too close to her and spoke with a bit of awkwardness since she knew that there should be a borderline between them.

”Ah, no problem. Dear, you don't have to act like a stranger coming to me for a favor. We can act like before.” Shen Wen was taken aback by Susu's formal tone. At the same time, Tian Yuo came back home and was about to call out to her. Quickly, she placed her index finger against her lips and shook her head.

He nodded and walked towards the living room when he saw her waving her hand asking him to go over to her. Purposely, she said, ”Susu, if there is anything that auntie could help you with, then do say so. I'll answer everything as long as it doesn't involve any confidential information, okay?”

”Thank you, auntie. I really appreciate it. It's getting late, so I will stop bothering you for now. Since you sound unsure about your upcoming schedule, you can message or call me back because I am free for the next few days. Thank you once again. Have a good night and sweet dreams. Bye.” Susu hung up the call and turned towards Chen Mu.

In the middle of the call, he finished reviewing all the emails that he had received today. Since she was still on the phone, he reached for the mug and started blowing on her milk so that it would be cooled down enough for her to drink.

”Hehe, thank you my dear. Mwahhhh” She leaned her head on his shoulder while he continued testing the temperature of her milk. When it was warm enough for her to drink, he handed it to her.

”Everything went well?” he asked as he grabbed the blanket from behind and covered her up. Her hands were a bit cold when he gave her the mug. It's always better to play safe than be sorry, especially with her body condition.

”Mmm, she sounded like how she always treated me. Instead, I was the one who sounded too formal around her, but I doubt I could act the same way after everything that has happened.” He rubbed her back and watched her snuggle up against his chest.

Understanding what she wanted from him, he gladly complied and pulled her in his embrace. ”Well, she can't expect everything to be the same after everything that happened between you and Tian Yuo, right? Plus, standing in a third person's perspective, she was saying contradictive words. On one end she was saying how much she loves you. On the other end, she was keeping you selfishly by using your mother's last wish as a coerce tool for you to stay.”

”That's true too. It's alright, though, because nothing happened between him and me. Now, we are happily together. So, I feel super super blessed to have you around me.” After drinking half the cup of milk, she felt bloated and couldn't finish it.

”Well, at least something good came out of this.” He saw that she had stopped drinking. Since she hated to waste food, he could tell that she was starting to force it down her throat. He held out his hand and wiggled his hands.

”What?” She blinked and tilted her head backwards.

”Cup. I'm thirsty.” She smiled, separated herself from his embrace and let him drink the cup of milk. Since she was sitting on the other side of the couch, her ties were sticking out and facing him. He could tell that her toes were cold even though she was already wrapped like a bun.

After washing the cup, he carried his big bun and tucked her in bed. Instead of joining her, he sat by her feet and started warming them up with his hands before massaging them little by little. He knew certain acupuncture points that could help with relaxing the body and making it more comfortable for people to sleep.

She started to giggle as he rubbed parts of her feet, ”Ahahahaheheheee..pffft..it tickles!”

”It tickles, huh? Then how about this?” He slid his finger up and down her feet, sending millions of tingles to her body.

”Oh! That feels nice. Continue~” He couldn't believe that she would feel ticklish for his foot rubs, but felt nice when he actually tried tickling her!
