Chapter 96 - Blackmailed 2 (1/2)
”Easy as a pea. All you have to do is to dig into the medical records and tell me everything about Susu's history at the hospital. It shouldn't be hard for you to find her since our surnames are quite difficult to find in this city. Even if some patients have the same surname, they won't have the same first name and cancer as her.”
Karen sipped her Coca Cola and tapped on her black phone screen, ”Remember of what I have in my hands. Do you want this information to leak? I can send an anonymous email to the principal from our university and have him decide what to do with such despicable actions.”
”Okay! Okay... alright. I'll do it. But only if you promise to delete that video!” Kitty took a few deep breaths and chugged down her orange juice.
Karen waved her phone in the air, ”Of course I will. Why would I keep such disgusting stuff on my phone? I just happen to hate cleaning up and somehow remember having this on my files.”
”Fine. Bye.”
”Wait.” Karen stopped her from leaving the table.
”What else do you want from me?” Kitty asked with an impatient tone.
”First, pay for the meal for both of us. Second, give me your cellphone number so I can speak to you without having to meet up.” Karen snatched Kitty's phone from her pocket and inserted her own number into the contacts list. After that, she called herself using Kitty's phone to make sure that the number is correct.
”Done.” Kitty slammed a few big bills on the table and took her phone from Karen. She left immediately afterwards because she had to rush back to her shift and take over for the other staff. She couldn't believe that an unplanned lunch walk became such a ridiculous issue for her.
Kitty clocked back into the system right on time for her shift and showed a pretentious smile to her coworkers. She heard familiar footsteps approaching from down the hallway and quickly adjusted her hair and reapplied her lipstick.
”Good afternoon, Doctor Lin Que!” She greeted him with a bright smile as usual and he said the same old line back to her. Even though he never looked more than a few seconds at her, she felt that it was more than enough because seconds will eventually become minutes, hours, days, and then a lifetime.
Kitty worked at the hospital for almost a year, but her lack of experience and effort held her back in terms of skills. She used to be the one who ran simple errands for everyone else at the hospital because she was clueless of everything around this hospital. Her parents used a lot of money to bribe their distant relative's daughter who worked as the head nurse to give her an opportunity at this location.
After successfully getting into this hospital with the distant relative's daughter's help, they changed some records on Kitty's file so that nobody would be able to find out that she got the job without getting interviewed.
Later, the relative's daughter regretted her decision because Kitty was more brainless than an ant. At least ants could work together and pick up large objects. Kitty wasn't used to working independently and as a team.
After a while of working and making countless mistakes, she was arrogant enough to show superiority in front of new potential interns. Even entering basic data entry records for patients was difficult for her to complete. Since the hospital had many visitors and patients entering and exiting daily, she would use other nurse's initials to avoid trouble if she was unsure of whether she did something correctly.
She was caught by an intern, but she brushed it off saying that she was too tired after working double shifts. Later, she accidentally swapped the medical reports for two patients, and the wrong prescriptions were given to the patients. Lin Que had to personally apologize to the patients and provide free hospital visits to settle the patient's fury.
Since that same intern who caught her faults was on shift with her during that time, she managed to push the blame onto the newbie. Lin Que let the head nurse handle the situation since he was in a rush that day to attend an overseas conference meeting.
