”You did not sleep?”

When Chris asked this question out of the sudden, Alessa turned her head his way and saw the creased on his forehead.

Her eyes went back to the kid.

When she realized what his question directly implied, she gasped.

What kid would stay up all night?

Was Chris asking the wrong question?

”... I, I didn't sleep.”

To her shock, the boy answered these as he slowly got up.

When looked at carefully, the child did have reddish eyes.

It was like he cried all night, at the same, he didn't get a wink of sleep.

Alessa threw Chris a troubled glance.

The man went to the bed and stood at its side.

The boy noticed her and shrunk under his blanket, as if afraid of her.

For what reason though?

The woman became self-conscious. Did she look intimidating just now? Or was she smelling bad? Although she really did not take a bath before going here, she at least had washed up last night before going to sleep...

”Don't be afraid of her. She's Alessa. She can be your big sis. Introduce yourself to her.”

Chris answered as he laid the tray of food on the bedside table.

Instead of doing what he told, the kid hid himself under the thick fabric more. This reaction of his made the actor stood there and stared blankly, unsure of what to do next.

Alessa remained silent. But when she exchanged glances with Chris, her gaze was questioning him.

He helplessly sighed. ”Milo. It's okay. She won't hurt you.”

This statement made Alessa's body jolt. Her eyes turned round.

Given the child's unusual reaction, she guessed that the boy had gone through something serious to end up like this.

She felt pained in her heart.

'Is it child abuse? Who would do that to someone this small?'

The thought had already made her feel very bad. And this was only a rough guess which was neither far nor close to the truth.

It was really Milo, the kid who had become entangled with Chris' life through an accidental summon in his dream.

At the place Sofony had raided yesterday afternoon, Chris found him.

He left all the other works to Sofia and immediately brought away this little guy.

He received points from the rescue operation so he had enough to request full recovery of the child right on the spot.

Yet no matter how the system had healed this kid, he would only act okay around Chris.

It seemed even though this little system user's heart was still pure and good, in the end, it was still very impossible for the torture and bad things he had experienced for a long and whole damn year to not break something inside him.

Chris understood this. And this was why he quite admired the kid. Yet he also wanted Milo to recover fully, mentally, so to say.

Maybe he was just being too softhearted for this small guy that he only knew for more or less three days.

”Hi,” after some time that the one hiding from them wouldn't budge, Alessa took the initiative to move forward.

The child called Milo was very afraid of strangers, no, women, because the person who had tortured him for a year was that female base-keeper.

Of course, no reply came.
