220 Return 3 (1/2)
The day that Gio and Sofony reunited was also the day that the enchantment and illusions beguiling their home city all fell apart.
It happened in absolute silence. All the normal citizens felt no change in their lives and only the few affected and with prior knowledge about the matter knew that everything had turned back to normal.
'... I feel like it should not have been resolved this easily... Finally found his conscience?'
The man was plagued by many indescribable emotions when his private plane finally managed to enter the city.
The time was around 2:30 pm. The half-host's group was with them but they were on the other side of the carrier. Moments passed and they have all successfully broken through the beautiful cluster of clouds, approaching closer and closer to the ground.
How many times had he tried doing this same, exact thing before? Only to find out everything was a barren land devoid of any traces of humans, much less Sofony's?
Countless times already, perhaps?
He chuckled. The one sitting next to him curiously turned her head. It was Sofony in a long red cashmere coat. Her glossy straight hair was down, swept in front to hide the mark he left on her neck.
With a smile, he explained. ”Nothing. Don't mind me. I was just being a bit emotional.”
Her lips parted as he looked at him. But she only managed to speak a few dozen seconds later.
”I think I can read your thoughts somehow. It's been so long for you...”
She meant the time he had not been able to step foot into the grounds of Alina.
No matter how one would see it, this place was his home.
Gio's shoulder trembled as he chortled. His eyes met hers.
”Yeah. I spent one and a half years frozen and drifting everywhere. The other one and a half unfrozen, but still drifting from place and place, if not trying to come back here from time to time. To be honest, I initially don't mind not being able to return to this city since we're already together again.” He paused.
Sofony remained silent when she saw the frightening glimmer in his eyes.
He continued, ”But now that I think about it, returning is also nice. I can reclaim what is mine. And also pay a visit to those I should.”
The man exuded a dark and heavy aura that thirsted for blood.
Remembering how he kept refusing to say who the person that forced them apart was, she wryly smiled.
'According to him, it is really that heavily bearded middle-aged man back then. But he kept saying it is his turn to make a move against that host and the other culprit. Who is the accomplice?'
Her eyes narrowed for a second because she knew he wouldn't answer.
”Are you going to visit Sir Conrad first once we landed?”
Upon her mention of that name, Gio turned to her with a very wide smile. It was actually scary, but thankfully it only lasted for three or so seconds before turning into an indifferent expression.
”No,” the man emotionlessly replied.
He thought, Sofony surely didn't know what kind of identity that damnable uncle of his really had.
It should be the only reason why his girl addressed that man with an honorific.
If she only knew what Conrad Albarez did back then, forget about paying respect, she would definitely slap the always seemingly kind old man to death.
She grabbed his large and warm hand and squeezed it lightly.
”If it's fine with you, how about we visit my adoptive parents first? Then I can show you around.”
”Hmm.” He hummed his agreement.
