183 Eluded 4 (1/2)
Chris wanted to say, he was really not. That he was even unhappy at himself for everything that occurred.
Such a mercenary sent after a weak lady was actually related to a host higher leveled than him and had a weapon coated with a Level 5 item from the system. He had to go to a secluded place to heal and inform Sofony or Sofia about it.
It could be a clue to whatever or whoever she wanted to locate, or simply an alert regarding a new enemy.
'I'm very sure the blade did not reach me. Does it mean his movement was just too fast that it created an invisible force which caused that cut, and a very tiny drop of the poison is flung onto the open skin coincidentally? Damn. What's with this conclusion? It's so ridiculous and stupid. But how else could it happen?'
'Maybe it's a weapon whose half of the blade is actually invisible? And I only didn't get a warning or notification since I'm just a Level 3 system user?'
His shaky fingers reached out to the door handle.
The appearance of a host at a similar or higher level with Sofony would mean trouble to him and the city. Especially now that he might have accidentally crippled a Level 5's main non-host supporter. He was sure Sofony didn't know of it yet since his encounter with that masked assassin was only a coincidence. If she knew, she would surely arrive here faster than him to interrogate that man. She would surely do so. As long as it was about another possible link to get her to where her main non-host supporter was, Sofony would go certainly go to any great length.
”Hey, are you listening to me? You, you really don't look okay.”
Instead of hearing the worry in her tone, his reddening ears only captured its sultriness and captivating qualities which made his body react. Damnable and unspeakable thoughts began to haunt him, clutching onto his wild imagination. And he didn't like any of it. He felt like he was gradually turning into a beast, the kind which could 'devour' a woman in a very sensual manner.
When the ball of fire somewhere inside him worsened due to the hand that grabbed onto his arm, he nearly lost to the demon which he never knew was actually hiding deep within his heart.
'Stop! I don't want to be a rapist!'
What does it know? The bastard he hated to death, Floyd, was a known rapist, somebody who had no respect for the femininity of the opposite sex. He was a bastard too, but he wouldn't stoop that low just to live up to this title. The deed being consensual only to one party was no different from sexual assault.
'... It's not whether I like her or not. Doing that because one side is drugged is just way too disrespectful to the other party. So I'm resisting it, bastard!'
Damn! Chris thought that he wouldn't even be in a situation like this where he had to totter in between two dangerous cliffs were it not for his current condition. He wanted to kill himself for being careless, despite knowing that he was not actually to be blamed since the appearance of somebody with a weapon from the system was not really easy to relate to the assassination of a non-host.
