150 Will To Live 1 (1/2)
Bathed in his own blood, nailed on the barbed wire fence through several iron rods sticking out from his chest, stomach, and thighs. His arms that also couldn't even hang down due to the thorns from the barbed wires holding them in place. Flesh mangled in rusty iron, plus blood pooling so abundantly beneath him.
Almost lifeless, and certainly like a broken doll.
When she discovered the person looking no worse than someone flayed and crucified, she and Diaz were inside the car. They only barely made out his sorry figure from the opposite side of the fence. However, when they did, much less she, even Diaz who had a heart several times stronger than hers was badly shaken.
She remembered, this happened around 1:55 pm.
More or less four hours passed since then as it was now already 5:45 pm.
Alessa had to take in big gulps of air in order to calm her raging heart. She also shook her head to erase the extremely gory and miserable pictures in her mind which had scared the hell out of her the first time she saw the sight.

”Second Miss. His state is terrible. But the doctors have assured that he will not die. Thankfully we found him before it was too late. The other good news is that the iron bars did not really puncture any fatal part in him. However, he still lost so much blood. His countless wounds and broken bones would take at least two months to heal, another two months for rehab.”
The girl nodded at Diaz who came in, reporting. She was relieved that the person who helped her avoid death yesterday would not die today.
They were currently in the waiting room designated to the relatives of the patients in the OR. The place was not very crowded because almost everyone who should be here was outside the emergency room where their loved ones were being operated.
Her case was different. She was not really Chris Meyer's relatives and was only here as the person who luckily found him a few hours ago in the run-down basketball court near her apartment. This was the reason why she had no qualms waiting inside this room instead of guarding the door to ambush the doctors that would come out of it.
Despite this though, she was still very nervous. It was not like she had deep ties with the man. To be honest, she even quite had an unpleasant impression of him due to his rude attitude towards her. However, all of this didn't matter before a person's life and death. As the one who unfortunately found him in that state, she felt like she had some responsibility to at least secure his life since he did the same to her yesterday when he warned her about the bomber.
It was just that she couldn't stop herself from thinking about how he ended up like in that unspeakably horrible situation... Who did that to him? And for what reason?
”Diaz, did Aura give you an update?” she asked her bodyguard, masking the unease in her face and heart.
”Sorry, Miss. She said there is really nothing even after she hacked all the CCTVs around and in between the possible routes from his home to the basketball court.” The man also shook his head and stared at his boss, worry evident from his eyes. ”Miss, I'm not sure if he's just unluckily victimized. However, the perpetrator's means are so clever and efficient that even I who came from the military was awed.”
No more elaboration was needed. Alessa understood that he was advising her not to involve herself with the guy anymore.
”I know what I'm doing, don't worry.” The girl gave the other a small smile, then stood up from the monobloc chair.
It was because a doctor still in his green operational gown, walked in so Alessa got up from her seat and greeted him.
”How is he, Doc?”
”He's now at least brought back from half-death,” replied the slightly haggard-faced man. ”However, his state is really dangerous. If he doesn't wake up within 24 hours, I'm afraid he will become comatose for life. After all, his brain also suffered from some shock and hemorrhages, most likely caused by something that hit or prick the back of his head. There are some more things I would love to discuss, but Miss Morgan, where are the family member of the patient?”
The girl only stared at the doctor and quietly said, ”Don't ask for now. Just do your best to heal him and make him wake up.”
The doctor made a difficult expression, looking as though he had more important things to say which really needed the presence of the family members. However, remembering who the person in front of him was, or at least from which family she came from, he wisely chose to shut up and go back to the patient's room.
