82 He Who Unexpectedly Saved Others (1/2)
In the end, Sofony was never that heartless to leave someone with a swollen face passed out on a cold stone bench. This was why she eventually returned and used some points to heal him. In fact, she even woke up the guy and hypnotized him to go to the nearest hotel, also leaving command to say to any curious busybody tomorrow that he overnighted at a friend's place.
'I hate to admit this. But he still managed to divert that Clarissa's attention. In Wendy's perspective too, he's the only one who lent a helping hand. This will be all meaningless after the memory wipe, but I guess I have no choice but forgive him just this once. I just hope he remembers nothing about this when he wakes up.'
After this, she shook her head and went back to the car again.
She was relieved that this long day finally passed.
.....
A while ago, when Sofony was finally able to think straight again, she realized that something was off about Clarissa's sudden departure. She thought the girl was someone who would not let go of any opportunity to make things difficult for her. Therefore, she didn't believe it was only because Clarissa found her impostor-play solution boring.
Unfortunately, that host did not leave any clue, and her system was useless since Clarissa already paid points to hide all information about her.
...
So what really happened?
A few hours ago, when Clarissa was staring murderously at the phone soaking in dirty blackish water, a notification suddenly echoed in her mind. It was this that made her postpone her plan of teaching that male junior a lesson.
It was also this that made her leave earlier than intended thus causing her to miss out how Sofony impersonated an innocent Wendy to save her friend's image.
In other words, Clarissa didn't really leave out of anger due to her phone suddenly ending up in a ditch. She would never be that idiotic.
Around the time when Wendy and Chris were asking the cab driver to send them elsewhere, Clarissa was already entering a three-story restaurant through the backdoor.
Precisely this restaurant was always what turned into a high-class brothel every night.
”No one's still calling me, huh?” Her sharp gaze went to her assistant.
Lydia's face still looked cool, but there was sweat trickling down her spine. ”We thought we can control the situation by ourselves. After all, the rebel is just a brat.”
”A kid?”
Lydia and the others that were now escorting Clarissa flinched.
”You're saying the one who sabotaged our operations by letting 80% of our goods out is just a kid? Huh? When did you lot become so stupid and useless?” The terrifying glint in Clarissa's eyes deepened. ”And none of you called me. I have to depend on my own source to know that this branch is now falling apart!”
Her female assistant was the one feeling the most pressure so she almost thanked the heavens when her earpiece alerted her of a transmission.
”Miss Lydia, we've cornered the kid near Basement 2's staircase. But he's strangely laughing. The rest of the escapees, we didn't manage to retrieve. T-there are only about 20 girls and boys here, together with the rebel kid.”
”Let a single one of them get away and you're all not going to see the sunrise tomorrow.”
It was Clarissa that said this after pushing the elevator button for Basement 2. Lydia's heart almost stopped as the words were actually meant for her, or maybe it was for everyone there. Still, the cold look from her beautiful and heartless boss didn't fail to scare everyone, including the normally stoic assistant.
The woman's voice became more urgent, ”Leader is coming with us! Don't let a single one of them get away, or else you won't even know when, where, why, and how you die!”
”C-copy that!”
The beautiful female immoral host only eyed them coldly. When the lift's door opened, she was the first one to get off, the rest racing to go after her.
As the stairs leading to Basement 1 was only ten meters from the right, they only had to walk the hallway for two minutes to see a group of gun-wielding and baton-wielding black uniformed men. In front of them was a kid who seemed to be the one reported. He was kind of familiar as he was one of the pretty boys she noticed from the last batch.
”L-leader, you're finally here. This damn brat is the one who freed all our commodities from their prison cells!”
”Please be careful. He is weird and arrogant! Our bullets couldn't reach him no matter what we do!”
Clarissa's eyes darkened after seeing what the 13-14-year-old was holding. It was actually just a small black box. But in one of the lateral faces, a red button was sticking out. It looked exactly an item used once by a person she knew.
'An invisible device? Bulletproof shield generator?'
Seeing for herself how boisterous the boy's laugh was, she immediately realized that he was the same as her. Given that he only had his clothes on him, it was easy to guess that if he was so confident in front of twenty or so armed men, then he could only be an immoral host.
The two immoral hosts met eyes. The foolish grin he flashed towards her made the beautiful girl's face hardened.
”Hi, pretty girl. You must be the boss! I finally see you! I mean, I already saw you, but it should be the first time I'm seeing you up close!” And the boy waved his free hand at her, looking so pleased about their meeting.
