21 Wendy 2 (1/2)
Chris, the one walking over to hold a conversation, froze at her weird question. His eyes showed his confusion. Did he look like someone itching for a fist fight just because he was trying to intercept her? The girl was known for her brain. Is this how geniuses think? Cross them, even if it's only to speak with them and you'll be mistaken for someone who wants to go brawl?
Wendy, unfazed by the weird eyes staring at her, stopped before the boy. A trace of unease flashed in her eyes as she finally realized who the other party was. ”Chris from Section B?”
Their school, Holy Child Academy, was comprised of both the four-year levels of junior high and two levels of senior high. Every grade or level had at least four hundred students divided into groups of thirty. The management could not be bothered to come up with decent names so every section was just styled after the alphabet.
Both Wendy and Sofony were part of Section A. The said section was the pilot of the grade made up of students ranking in the top 30 from the previous school year. The rest of the sections were heterogeneous in terms of gender, grades, or names. The boy she called Chris was from Section B and a classmate of Floyd and his ugly underlings. She sometimes saw his name ranking in the twenties; but since his results were not stable, he failed to be part of Section A for this year.
'This Chris should be one of the stupid people by that scumbag's side.'
A frown appeared on her immaculate face when she thought of this.
”You keep staring at me. Do you know how rude and disturbing that is? Tell me. Is there something wrong with my face? Or are you just too entranced by me? In other words, do you have any business with me?” Wendy rudely bombarded him with questions, her manner nowhere near the word 'polite'.
Chris was quite intimidated by her glare and had to pass a few seconds to recollect his calm. In his mind, disbelieving words kept on creeping up. 'Just wow. This Miss Number One is really fierce, like a queen. Very narcissistic as well. The heck.'
”I have something to tell you.” He started when the girl's left brow was raised.
Wendy blurted out using an impatient and matter-in-fact tone, ”Obviously, otherwise you won't block my way.”
The boy did his best not to roll an eye at her before continuing, ”Your friend?”
Wendy impatiently folded her arms and scanned him from head to toe, the look in her eyes was not good especially when the guy asked for her friend. In a condescending tone, she coldly answered,
”Somewhere you should not concern yourself with. If you have problems with us, sorry but us goddesses don't have time to give a damn.”
Wendy's eyes rolled at him as if the girl feared he wouldn't see how annoyed she was at him.
”So what is it again? I already asked a while ago, what's the problem? Is my simple question too complicated for you to understand? Or do I have to repeatedly ask just so that it will register in your brain? Gosh, pitiful me. I don't know why there are people in the world who don't know how to use their functioning parts properly. I'm not pertaining to every PWD out there, okay? I mean someone like, ahem, a dorky boy blocking the path of this beautiful lady on her way to the classroom. But, okay, fine. My question again is, do, you, have, any, freaking, business, with, the goddess, me?”
Chris was aware of the famous razor-sharp tongue of the campus beauty. Wendy Gomez was known to be frank and straightforward, but scheming, unreasonable and probably only mellow to her best friend and some other favored acquaintances.
However, knowing about it or not was a different matter. Her rude attitude really lit some fuse in Chris' head as he started giving her a cold look. What kind of person talked like this? He didn't even say a thing yet but the other party already said more than a thousand words.
He couldn't control the frost in his eyes from shooting out. The girl was not intimidated though. She was too used to her air-conditioner of an elder brother to care for a mini fan.
Chris gritted his teeth and then calmed himself. He did his best to erase first the image of this girl sizing him up and down repeatedly with a raised brow from his mind. Only when he successfully lightened the annoyance in his heart did he speak.
”I want to talk to the both of you. It's about you and Miss Sofony's safety.” He emphasized. ”I know it's unbelievable and maybe to you, I just look some crazy bastard you encounter in an empty corridor, but on my part, I just don't want to bear something against with my conscience, so I at least want to inform you and Miss Sofony.”
When Wendy heard his words, some hint of surprise appeared in her eyes and she started studying the person standing like lamp post before her more seriously. Since she remembered that this Chris was mingling with Floyd, it became easy for her to connect the dots.
'Sofony really didn't lie. If even someone from that scumbag's group knew, then it's more than ninety percent confirmed.'
With a stare much more critical than before, she inspected the place left and right to make sure no people were close before shooting a piercing glance at him. Chris felt the sudden change in her aura. He said to himself, she's the exact opposite of her best friend. If Sofony Mendez was a gentle and weak nerdy goddess, then this girl confronting him was a strong queen capable of crushing people with both her beauty and aura.
”You're a minion of that scumbag Floyd, right? Felicity's boyfriend?”
He instinctively denied. ”No. There's just another reason why I have to mingle with them. I am Felicity's childhood friend.”
She sneered, ”So? Is your group cooking up something nasty against me and Sofony?”
Chris' eyes widened and shocked was all over his face. ”You knew?”
”I am actually just guessing. However, you just confirmed it. What a nice bunch you are. Truly. This beautiful me is very amused and amazed by the greatness of your group!”
”I said I'm not truly part of them!”
Chris merely joined them to monitor Floyd. Felicity's too fragile so he wanted to at least watch out for her and see for himself what kind of people her boyfriend and his friends were. He didn't like so far what he managed to find out. However, he's not obligated to mention this part to someone else.
Wendy obviously didn't know what's running in his mind and was lazy to care. He was merely a stranger to her.
Contempt filled her eyes as she mercilessly refuted.
”I'm saying you're with them because you're part of that scumbag's group. Don't say you're not. You're always seen hanging out with Floyd and his ugly friends. I know what kind of scumbagness your group is partaking in. For example, a certain scourge ordering his subordinates to kidnap girls to satisfy his sexual hobby. I don't know why suddenly one of them is turning traitor with the excuse 'my conscience', but one thing's for sure. Nothing could change the fact that your group is very very disgusting. ”
'She knew!'
Chris immediately looked away when Wendy gave him a condemning stare. He could only look away. In the end, her claim was the truth, actually exactly what he overheard.
