“Let’s make sure your hair isn’t the color of a rooster’s tail. You’re going to school. Don’t bring shame to master Han and his family, okay?” steward Han warns. Liu Dongyu shrugs. He can’t really do much about it anyway.
Han Qilu shakes his head. The older generation seems to forget trends. His hair is maroon, and so Dongyu would’ve fit in. He, himself, would’ve liked to try to color his hair [similar to Dongyu’s] but he doesn’t have the courage to try.
“Liu Shu, that’s enough. Don’t make Dongyu feel uncomfortable.” Han Qilu remembers an old memory. Dongyu was hiding in a corner, crying, as steward Han picked him up from school.
He is embarrassed that he has coveted the love that Liu Dongyu wants so badly!
But does he owe Liu Dongyu anything? How about Chuxia? He can’t figure out what he needs to do. Can his heart handle the pull it feels when he’s alone with her?
He thinks he can’t fully commit to Mankuai because she’s had affairs with other men. He can’t move on until he makes peace with this fact.
But since he chose her, he can’t renege on his decision.
Then why does his heart feel hollow? Han Qilu remembers Meng Xiaonan’s words about having a bright future with Chuxia, and if he tries hard to recall the past, he’d truly not love Mankuai?
The thought is preposterous.
“Young master?” Steward Han asks softly. His face is filled with concern. “Where did you go?”
Han Qilu returns to the present, realizing he is in conversation with the butler.
“You must be very busy with the move. I’ll go take a bath.” Qilu says.
Steward Han returns the greeting. “Good night, young master. See you in the morning.”
Han Qilu leaves, perturbed. Liu Dongyu remembers seeing An Chuxia in the ward with Han Qilu. But he recalls hearing his father call An Chuxia xiaonainai. So, are they married? If he’s going by age, they aren’t old enough to be married. So does that mean they’re a couple?
But as he looks at the situation, they’re definitely not lovers.
“Father, what’s his relationship with the girl I met in the hospital? They seemed strange… .” Liu Dongyu looks at the steward.
“Child, don’t worry about messy affairs. These are matters we can’t meddle in.” Steward Han heads to the trunk of the car and retrieves a bag and puts it in Dongyu’s hands. “Go back to the room and take a shower. Make sure you have all the things you need for school tomorrow. Try not to bother anyone, okay?”
Liu Dongyu wants to scream from within, but he doesn’t talk back to the butler. He takes his huge bag and returns to his father’s room. He didn’t mean to intervene. He just wants to learn more about it. He didn’t want his father to have such a grave expression, but his response made him seem like he’s a programmed robot.
The house help lives on the east side of the villa. Compared to apartments, these accommodations are significantly better. Being his first time here, he doesn’t know where his father lives. However, the staff is willing to help him out.
“It’s Dongyu, right?” A maid walks out of a room and looks at him. “You’re all grown up! When you first arrived in A City, it was me and your dad who picked you up. I’m Xu ayi, do you remember?”
He stares at her doubtfully, but hs politely greets her back. “Thank you, Xu ayi. Please take care of me.”
He may be considered a gangster and a tyrant in his former school, to the point that he was called Dongyu ge. But in front of his elders, he presents himself as a gentleman. Especially in front of steward Han. He has to make sure he has manners.
“Lovely!” Xu ayi smiles happily. “Do you know where your room is? We’ve emptied out the room next to your dad’s. Come with me.”
The corridor is made of wood, which gives the place a homey feel. No matter what, he won’t be living alone in such a big place
