Chapter 1 (1/2)
CHAPTER 1
This Damned Han Qilu
An Chuxia’s beautiful eyes slowly close. In her mind, her mother’s gentle and kind smile appears.
She can’t believe it; her mother has left her… forever.
“Hey, are you finally satisfied?” A frosty voice reverberates in her ear; his breath against her skin strikes a nerve. She suddenly jumps in surprise when she feels his hand on her shoulder.
She lets out an internal groan. Han Qilu, the young master, seems infantile.
Her mind flashes back to a few hours ago… .
“Han Qilu, from this point onwards, An Chuxia is your sister, and you have to take care of her,” Han Qi Lu’s mother, Jiang Yuan, says. One of the matron’s hands rests on Chuxia’s shoulder while the other leads her in front of Han Qilu.
Han Qilu stiffens as he listens to his mother’s orders. He takes a good look at Chuxia, his old man’s life-saving benefactor’s daughter. She has long eyebrows that make people feel at ease… and it unnerves him.
… Especially her eyes. They’re like crystal, devoid of impurities.
He refuses to be swayed by her appearance. His mother may be grateful An Chuxia’s mother saved his father’s life. But that doesn’t grant her a position in the Han family, right?
What a conniving woman!
But what annoys him the most is that the city government allowed and acknowledged this arrangement.
An Chuxia also stares at Han Qilu. He looks like a bad boy. His hand is arrogantly shoved down his pant pocket. The other, draping a black coat over the shoulder. She has heard Qilu is usually cocky and despotic. It is best to avoid eye contact at all means.
