67 3.24- Never Let Go... Part 2 (2/2)
Akira extended her hand to me, looked a bit uncertain as she looked at my face and my hands... Half expecting it to retract hers in fear or rejection while I slowly walked to her leftmost side from her bed, and extended my hand and held hers in a handshake. I almost wanted to grab her shoulders and hug her tightly there and then but it might scare her off.
She then said, ”Hello... My name is Akira Ashiteru and I am from Asahigaoka Senior High School. Its a pleasure to meet you and please take good care of me, Senpai!”
I held out my hand as well and held it tightly in mine while I replied, ”Hello Ashiteru-chan... My name is Shiro Takashimaya and I am, too from Asahigaoka Senior High School. I was the captain of the Futsal team but I quit some time back ever since your accident. It is a great pleasure to meet you Ashiteru-chan and YES I will gladly take good care of you and you to take good care of me as well... ”
I didn't release my outstretched hand when I shook hers but after awhile Akira let it go slowly right till it slowly slips out of each other's fingers. She then clasps it next to her chest as if she was trying to calm her racing heart the moment we touched right till we released our handshake.
”I want to know more about this boy... I can't help my heart that's been racing and wanting to jump out of my chest. I feel that I wanted to reach out and let him hug me but I'm afraid that I might also push him away... This boy seemed to have a significant impact on my life, before, now as well as the future.”
Akira seemed to be clouded with hope, anticipation, confusion as well as a desire to learn more about me and our relationships but she knew she would get the answers slowly through the SMS contents.
Akira bowed her head slightly again and expressed her heartfelt thanks to me again.
The doctors around concluded that I need to continue my visitation daily to help Akira to regain her memories. They discussed it with Akira's aunt and she had no questions whatsoever against their suggestions.
The doctors informed Akira's aunt that since Akira had regained her consciousness, she might be moved to a common 2 bedded or 4 bedded ward instead to reduce the cost of the medical and hospitalisation fees. Hearing those suggestions, I intervened and told the doctors to use the funds that were available through the crowdfunding. If it is insufficient, I would top it off by accumulating it every month.
The doctors looked at Akira's aunt again and she simply nodded her head at my intervention. Her aunt faced me and bowed once more.
A nurse came to me and whispered that there are some teachers and the Principal and Vice Principal were waiting for me at the cafeteria. I nodded and told them that I would be coming right after this.
I went over to Akira's side and tapped her head lightly; and as I walked away, my arm was suddenly held back. I looked who it was and it was Akira's and she said: ”Never Let Go”. I tried sniffling silently as a smile broke out on my face; I told Akira that I would be back, as I slowly turned and head to the cafeteria downstairs to meet with the rest of the teaching staffs.
