Chapter 5 Thorn Demon

Chu Mu has received a very well-rounded education ever since he was young, including how to correctly discipline his body. Although this path is harsh and difficult, Chu Mu has persevered.

Chu Mu walked along a small stream, which is formed from the snow on the mountain at the centre of the island. Walking upstream, Chu Mu will not lose his way.

“Mandy Monster?” Chu Mu abruptly slowed down, staring at the drinking soul pet a hundred metres away.

The Mandy monster has the body of a lizard, with the entirety of it being red, sharp ears, and the tail of a fish. It belongs in the Demon Beast circle, Beast type, and is a close combat soul pet with attributes leaning towards strength and defence, but lacking in speed and agility.

“Mandy monsters grade should be medium.”

Soul pets power are differentiated by its stage, however, the stage of a soul pet can be raised through various methods like combat. As long it is raised properly, any soul pet can have their stage raised to 4, 9, or even higher.

Therefore, stages are not used to judge the potential of soul pets. “Grades” are the standard used.

Grades indicate the racial advantages of each soul pet.

For example, a stage 5 medium grade soul pet is stronger than a stage 5 low grade soul pet. This is due to their racial differences, just like how a dog will be hard pressed to defeat a tiger.

The Mandy monster should be a popular choice, as medium grade soul pets are still relatively easy to tame, and their growth speed is fast as well.

However, Chu Mu is not very interested in these grades of soul pets. The Mandy monster also has numerous limitations in combat. With its slow speed, if it goes up against an agility type or magic type soul pet, defeat is certain.

Chu Mu did not intend to waste time here. The Mandy monster has a mild temper, and will not attack unprovoked.

As Chu Mu walked past the Mandy Monster, it raised its head from the water, large eyes staring at Chu Mu. Sensing no hostility from him, it lowered its head again and resumed drinking.

“Second soul contract, capture!!”

Suddenly, a loud and clear voice sounded!!

Chu Mu immediately turned towards the direction of the sound, and found a youth around the same size as him casting the soul contract technique.

The youth is called Ge Sen, with an uncommon brown hair colour, a white face, and freckles.

“Heh heh, don’t even think about it!” Even though Ge Sen did not speak, Chu Mu noticed the complacent smile on his face.

Chu Mu sneered, and firmly increased his pace.

Once the soul contract technique has been casted, there are only two possibilities. The former being successfully contracting with the soul pet, and the latter is angering the soul pet.

Even though the drinking Mandy Monster’s grade is relatively low, but from its outer appearance one can tell it is at least at stage 4, and is completely healthy. With his weak soul power, Ge Sen has less than one percent chance of success, and the outcome of failure is of course……

“Howl!!!!”

Sure enough, the Mandy monster was enraged. In a frenzy, it charged towards Ge Sen!

Ge Sen’s expression changed, and he panicked and ran into the jungle.

Looking at the chaotic scene, Chu Mu laughed secretly, and moved on, and the sound of the confusion gradually died down.

Chu Mu has prepared adequate amounts of food and water for this long journey, and on the first day, he only managed to advance about seven to eight kilometres before dark.

He hid in a little rock cave, and blocked the entrance of the cave with rocks to prevent other savage soul pets from coming in.
