13 Camping On Trixs Doorstep (2/2)
”And Colonel?” My heart raced with concern and an urge to go to the Second Tier to see him.
Hang on, an urge to race off and see Leinard? I shook the thought aside.
Trix flashed me a cheeky, lopsided smile. ”He's fine.”
”So, what are you men doing in my drawing room?” Trix returned to the sight of our unexpected camp out on the lounges.
”Testing quality?” I joked.
”What?” Trix replaced his smile with an expression that said, 'are you an idiot?'.
Death sighed and explained our situation; unimpressed at Trix's laughter.
”Oh, I see. Well, you men can't sleep here,” Trix said when he stopped laughing.
”Where then?”
”Leinard's room is free until his return.” Trix raised his brows and c.o.c.ked a glance my way.
I cursed my rapid heartbeats and fidgeted with my Albert chain, feeling awkward about intruding on Leinard's room. I mean, it was his inner sanctum, his private zone holding all his stuff and bed. My heart skipped a beat at the thought of his bed, wondering what sort he slept in and the style of his room.
”No, no, no!” I waved off the offer. ”I can't do it.”
”Suit yourself. The other option is return to that room.” Trix teased us. ”Or you could sleep with me. My bed is always open to two handsome men.”
”Don't you have guest rooms? Is this not a mansion?” Death groaned with a common sense question.
”Party p.o.o.per.” Trix grumbled. ”Yes. I was hoping to tease Famine a bit more.”
”What?!” I growled.
”Gather your bedding. Follow me gentlemen.” Trix turned.
I turned to the window and called out to Small Cap in my mind.
_”Freend?”_ Small Cap answered somewhat distracted. He seemed to be dining on some invertebrate he had found nearby.
_”Trix is back. We're taking off to somewhere else.”_
I felt Small Cap sigh with disappointment, finish consuming his meal and moving. A short while later he surfaced to the window sill and leapt for the belt pouch. I grimaced at the mental image of the fat worm he had left behind. It was obvious he was still hungry.
_”When we're settled. You can go out again.”_ I promised him.
”Ready?” Trix called out.
I nodded, grabbed my bedding and followed him across the drawing room and through the oak doors into a navy carpet hallway.
