10 To The Pond (1/2)
War led us through the door, which opened into a grey marble corridor where one side of the wall was transparent gla.s.s, displaying the view of the forest we had trekked through and a vista of the star-studded night sky. The other wall was one enormous long stretch of mirror.
I thought back to that Arima Trap and shuddered. It wouldn't be nice if I found myself trapped within that type of place again. Although, the Arima Trap ended up being a Dimension Slip in the end.
I freaked when images of Skrit, those tree-man type demons in full black suits, appeared and moved about the mirrored surface.
”Death!” I gasped as I clung to my eldest brother's arm.
”Calm down git. They're fakes. Images plucked from dat disturbed head of yahs, made to appear and move about by Semblance Magic.” War rea.s.sured me.

Like I could help my reaction. The images seemed real enough.
Nevertheless, I released Death's arm and followed War's lead towards the redwood door at the end.
It opened out to a white marble stone sitting area, beyond it was a vast pond of steaming water.
War led us to the tall stone bookshelves and shower troughs of the sitting area.
”Get outta yah clothes and stock 'em on dem pigeonhole shelves.” War instructed us.
”Hey Small Cap. You awake?” I roused my spider friend.
_”Freend.”_
I told him about undressing and having a bath.
Small Cap crawled out of the belt pouch and found a cool spot at the back of the pigeonhole shelf I stowed my clothes in. I felt his presence return to sleep and dreams about cosy bark and lots of snail snacks.
”Yergh!” War screwed up his nose.
I chuckled, realising he also would've seen Small Cap's happy thoughts of eating his favourite foods in his head.
”Sucked in.” I felt some small piece of justice gained.
