“First Senior, are you alright?” Wang Yue and Lin Tao turned pale with fright and hurried to Zhou Yan’s side, helping him up. They had seen everything. Zhou Yan’s right hand had not even touched the tanuki when the tanuki’s eyes flashed a peculiar light. This caused Zhou Yan to retreat in alarm, unable to keep from feeling bewildered.

“Humph, what a reckless fool.” Seeing that Zhou Yan had fallen, Ye Chen could not be bothered to take action. Taking Little Tanuki with him, he went up the stairs.

Zhou Yan stared at Ye Chen’s departing figure with a terrified look.

Wang Yue and Lin Tao also powerlessly watched Ye Chen leave to go upstairs, not daring to stop him.

“Demon!” After a long while, Zhou Yan spat out this word.

Wang Yue and Lin Tao exchanged dismayed glances. They did not know why but they felt a chill running down their spines.

Zhou Yan only seemed to recover after a long time had passed. He knew that he had been struck by an illusion. Now, the three of them had a deep fear of Ye Chen. No matter what, they would not dare to provoke him anymore.

The sun descended in the west and the sky gradually darkened. Nighttime stole over the land.

The wind whistled now and then outside the inn. It was a peculiar occurrence. In the daytime, the sun was blazing. Autumn was just beginning and the weather should not be too chilly. Even so, the wind outside now was getting colder with each gust as if winter had arrived.

The Nightwind outside the inn neighed woefully, sounding rather disturbed.

In the chilly wind, Ye Chen smelled an unusual energy. He sat cross-legged on his bed. The room next to him was Tantai Ling’s. Anyway, even if the mystical beast showed up, Ye Chen would not head out. He could just use his Astral Body to observe the situation outside.

The night was still young. Ye Chen calmed down his heart and began cultivating. The nine Chi Circles in his body revolved constantly. This change was only occurring in the Fire-type Celestial Chi and not the other types of Chi Circles.

Ye Chen’s cultivation base in terms of Fire-type Celestial Chi had surpassed the other types.

Little Tanuki sprawled by Ye Chen’s side, having entered her cultivation state as well.

In the next room, Tantai Ling was doing who-knew-what. Ye Chen did not dare to extend his Astral Body over because Tantai Ling was able to sense his Astral Body. If he saw something he should not have and offended Tantai Ling, he would be in trouble.

It was nighttime. Other than the occasional wail of the wind, it was so silent that one would be somewhat afraid.

Tantai Ling sat on her bed. Nebula-like Celestial Chi spun and fluttered around her. She remained this way for a long time. At midnight, she seemed to detect something and suddenly opened her eyes. She mumbled to herself, “Finally you’re here. I hope I won’t be too disappointed.”

A gale tore past and the Nightwind outside suddenly unleashed a plaintive cry. This cry was heartbreaking, causing one to shudder when they heard it.

“The mystical beast is here!” Whoosh whoosh whoosh – four figures dashed out from the inn.

The three apprentices from the Taiyi Sword Sect had recklessly raced out as well. Did they think that the mystical beast outside was an ordinary Eighth or Ninth Level mystical beast?
