4 III (1/2)
As days stretched into weeks since I had heard from ”unknown,” I became curious as to what had happened to them. I refused to leave my house unless I really had to, like practice, work, recording sessions, and groceries.
The noise of someone knocking on my window woke me up. I picked up my phone and looked at the time, 1:27. I sighed and stood up and walked to the window. As I reached it and grabbed the curtain in my hand, I paused. My window was on the forth floor of my apartment building. There wasn't anyway to my apartment unless you went up the main stairs.
I jumped as the banging got louder and landed on my ass staring at the window. Outside, there was a black silhouette of a man. I let out a scream and raced over to my phone, picking it up with Levi's number already on the screen.
I walked back over to the window and opened the curtains only to find nothing but a clear sky reflected back towards me. I opened the window and looked above and to the sides and yet there was no one nor no way to reach it. I looked towards the street and saw them deserted all but a man standing there, staring up at me. His eyes were so red, I could see them from my window. His hair was long and black. As soon as I noticed him, my phone sounded with my familiar ringtone.
Unknown: Do not disobey me ever again, Rosie girl.
I dropped my phone on the carpet, my hands trembling. I looked back to the street and the man was gone, but I was too scared to be here alone. I grabbed my phone as I slammed my window shut and called Levi.
”Hey there, Rose! What's up?” Levi answered in his sleepy tone.
”Don't pull this shit with me, were you the one who was just knocking on my window?”
”What are you talking about, Rose? You know I don't do that,” he responded, more serious now.
I dropped my phone and tears started to stream down my cheeks. I heard Levi's panicked voice through my phone calling my name, but I was paralyzed. I couldn't move.
”Rose, I'm coming over there now. Do not move.” I heard as the phone clicked off. As soon as the silence surrounded me, I let out another scream.
I don't know how long I laid on the floor, but I jumped and curled into a tighter ball when I heard the door unlock and the sound of footsteps running toward my room.
”Rose,” the voice spoke, it was warm and inviting and I immediately jumped into Levi's arms and sobbed into him. He held me and patted my hair, trying to soothe me. He pulled me into his arms and carried me to my bed where he laid me down and sat beside me.
”Go to sleep, Rose. I'll stay here with you,” he said and suddenly and overwhelming sense of exhaustion hit me and I fell victim to the darkness of my mind.
The light of the sun hit me in my eyes as I realized I was alone in my bed. The sound of my phone only caused me to sit up in bed with a groan throwing out any chance of extra sleep. I opened it and saw the time, 10:36.
