Chapter 1401 (1/2)

After leaving the outpost, Grice stepped up and headed for the suburbs of Los Angeles.

Feeling the cold touch in his arms, listening to the clanging sound, he only felt a burst of heat in his heart. He was so excited that he wanted to sing. With the deposit and the payment of the mysterious man, his assets now exceed a thousand caps.

It's the first time he's seen so many caps after picking up garbage in California for so many years. If he didn't quite understand what the word ”sudden wealth” means before, now he has experienced how it feels.

He has planned how to use the money.

When he gets the last stroke from the mysterious man, he must go to the gold selling cave in the free city to live as a rich man for two days, and then he will take the rest of the money to go to the weapon store to change into a corrupt equipment. At that time, he will become a mercenary or a hunter, which is more promising than a scavenger.

To be honest, the mysterious employer didn't give much money, at least compared with the lavish Chinese, it can only be described as stingy. However, even so, it was a big deal of 200 bottle caps to buy off his less than high professional ethics, which was quite enough.

After all, no one is afraid of less money.

Despite his excitement, Grice kept his basic vigilance. Instead of walking in a straight line, he made several turns in the alleys of Los Angeles suburb.

No one is more familiar with Los Angeles than a scavenger. The places he walks through are basically free from dangerous alien species. However, those intersections are different. If you are not careful, you may turn into dead claw territory. And at that point, those ferocious guys will take care of his stupid stalkers

If there is one.

The meeting place is in an abandoned cinema, with posters on the door of a new film released one summer day in 2171.

Straight to the front door of the cinema, Grice reached out and tapped three rhythmically on the old red wood door.

Soon, a footstep came from behind the red wood door. With a slight creak, he opened a crack and put him in.

There were yellow brochures scattered on the ground. Behind the red wood door was a red carpet covered with dust. The fence inlaid with gold edge was hung with red satin with fluffy. Four soldiers in exoskeletons stood on both sides of the entrance to the screening hall. Grice hesitated a little. His left hand, retracted in his sleeve, held the fuse of the smoke bomb and walked nervously toward the projection hall.

”How is it going?” Sitting in the back seat of the cinema, the man in the black lacquer exoskeleton slowly opened his mouth and said in a voice that had been processed by frequency conversion.

”I've only given them the way to the Grand Canyon,” Grice said, reaching out to the man. ”So, what's my reward?”

A faint smile, the man waved to the air nearby.

Almost at the same time, the transparent air opened a layer of light ripples, a black figure directly stepped out from behind the ripples, and suddenly appeared behind the man.

Grice was taken aback by the scene. Although he had heard of optical invisibility, he saw it for the first time.

Watching with vigilance at the man who came out of thin air, Grice held his left hand with smoke and fuze, which had soaked a trace of sweat. If the gang is going to kill him, he won't even have a chance to fight back.

Fortunately, these people did not intend to kill people. Instead of the muzzle or dagger, the man in black handed out a pocket cap box.

”Here's the reward,” Captain Gerald said with a smile, pointing to the box in his men's hand. ”There are ten large caps, and if I remember correctly, they will serve twenty.”

After swallowing his spit, Grice reached for the lid box, opened the lid, took a quick glance, and stuffed it into his pocket.

”Generally speaking, though we use more of those caps,” Grice said with a dry smile as he stepped back two steps without incident Now that I have finished my task, I will not disturb you here

”Don't go in a hurry,” Gerrard said slowly, stopping Grice as he turned away. ”I have a task for you.”
