69 The wind mages scheme 1 (1/2)
Seeing the lizard lay motionless on the ground, Ramie let out a sigh of relief.
During the confrontation, he, Lance, Neil and the other two warriors with them, stood beside the vehicles, waiting for the signal to participate in the fight.
However, it did not come, at least not at first.
This made Ramie think that the two leaders were hell bent on claiming the life of this beast all by themselves.
However, just then, the rock bombardment came, and the situation was turned.
Anyway, even despite the distance, the rock shrapnel still reached them and showered the armored vehicles.
Luckily, and due to the distance, the momentum of these rocks was not enough to destroy these APCs. And few dents were all the damage these vehicles sustained.
Anyway, after the first wave, Ramie and Neil hid behind the vehicles, as unlike the warriors, they didn't have life energy to protect themselves. Lance and the two warriors stood by them.
Although he wanted to help, but the flaying rocks kept coming and coming, thus preventing him from getting in an appropriate range to cast his ghost glare spell.
His spell had a range of exactly 50 meters to affect the target. Beyond this range, it wouldn't work at all.
But now, the APCs were stationed 100 meters away from the beast, as a getaway strategy, and right now, the area was under rock bombardment. If he tried to get any closer, he'd risk getting himself struck by a rock.
In the distance, he could see that even warriors at the peak of Lv.1 were barely holding themselves against these rock shreds, and were suffering from serious injuries, not to mention him who didn't even have life energy protection.
Luckily, Gregory and Brian let go of their reservation and executed plan B, which involved his intervention. They charged at the rock lizard from two different directions and started throwing ranged attacks at the creature, thus putting an end to the rock's shotgun predicament.
After that, Ramie dashed toward the beast, to get in the 50 meters range required for him to cast his spell. The other two warriors and Lance ran ahead of him, serving as shields.
By calling his name, and according to the pre-determined plan, they asked him to ready himself, and by shouting the word 'glare,' they asked him to cast his spell.
After casting his ghost glare spell, everything was settled, with unbelievable ease.
This made Ramie feel exceedingly thankful for having this artifact of his.
Although the warriors obtained an immense physical boost and strong defense by igniting their life energy, but the nature of this power forced them to be in the front lines of any battle, thus receiving all of the battle pressure and putting their lives on the line.
As for him, he just stood far away in a safe distance, and at the given signal, he just casted his spell and the outcome was decided, just like that!
Also, and judging by the toughness of the tier-2 beasts, in the next missions, this scenario would probably repeat itself again. And even without putting his life on the line, his team would still get the benefits.
This made him feel a bit guilty.
It wasn't just the warriors, but the other magicians as well.
even though they were magicians just like him, but in the end, his 'special' graded spell 'ghost glare,' had made him the only magician capable of impacting a battle with a tire-2 beast involved in it, thus, making him indispensable for these types of missions!
He knew that now, he could impose any condition on the compound, and they'd have no choice but to say yes to him.
However, in the end, he didn't want to take advantage of them like this, not when they were the ones that spilt blood in the fight.
Walking toward the warriors, few turned to look at him.
Envy was unconcealed in their eyes.
Even though they had the life energy coursing through them, but what that was comparing to such a powerful spell?
They had risked their lives and faced such a strong beast, but all this man had to do was to use his artifact, cast one spell… and the deal was sealed, just like that…
