Chapter 293 - MIDNIGHT (2/2)
The minute change and his clocks read 11:59 pm
”Alright, one minute to midnight is good enough for me...”
He said as he heaved a sigh of relief.
He took a couple of paces towards the cemetery gates and then stopped when a loud heavy chime cut through the deadly silence.
The church bells were tolling---- the witching hour had arrived!
He glanced once again around the graveyard to see if there is any ghost, witches, demons, or whoever son of the dinosaur had suddenly decided to join him that night.
But there was no one. It was just him.
”Great!”
Aiden heaved another sigh of relief
The church bells continue to chime, counting out the number of hours and when the final bell chimed, Aiden was already halfway across the graveyard. He was half walking and half running towards the exit.
It was only at this time that realization dawn to him as to how inappropriate it was for a young man to be seen out here alone in an isolated place at this ungodly hour.
If someone sees him inside the cemetery wearing a tuxedo just like now, they might take him for a psycho.
Or an escaped mental patient...
Or worst,
An addict or a drug pusher.
Ohhh... TUKHANG!
Taking his cell phone, he started speaking into it loudly.
”Hey Dad, I am coming to meet you at the gate. I can almost see you..”
There was no one at the other line, but he thought that if there is anybody here then they had seen him talking to someone over the phone, then they will leave him alone.
The gates appeared in front of him and a sweet relief swept over him.
”Not much further to go and I'd be free...”
Aiden picked up his pace as he was eager to get back home and put this awful night behind him
But as he neared the path that led straight to the gate, tendrils of white mist started to creep through the railings.
At first, the mist was semi-transparent to the point that Aiden could still see the gates and the light at the street lamps through it.
But as he took another step forward, the nature of the mist changed!
It suddenly grew thicker and denser and now it poured out between the railings. Enveloping the gate and the entire path in solid white.
”Oh, crap!!!”
He muttered as the mist started to swallow him too.
