Chapter 286 - THE STRANGE SILHOUETTE IN THE MIST (1/2)
NOTE:
NOT A CHAPTER!!! NOT A CHAPTER!!! NOT A CHAPTER!!!
This time, Aiden could barely see past his nose.
”Great, just great!!!! Now I will have no choice but to fumble my way out of this darned place. Haist!”
And so he did just like that. He started shuffling towards the direction of the cemetery gates.
Everything was doing well until his toe connected with the stone base of a tombstone
”AWWWWW!!!!”
Aiden inhaled sharply as intense pain shot through his foot.
”Fudge! Fudge!! Fudge!!! Fudge!!!! FUUUDDGGEEE!!! MOTHER TRUCKING FUDGE CAKES!!!!”
He gasped in pain
Spinning around on one foot, the poor little Aiden reached out for the nearest headstone and rested against it.
At this time, he could only hope that his toe was not broken. Or else, that broken foot would be the proverbial cherry on top of his fudge cake.
Rubbing his toe in hopes to relieve the pain, Aiden turned to lift his head up and what he sees next cause his stomach to dropped.
Because there he saw, amidst the thick fog and white mist a dark silhouette walking closer towards him!!!
Its solidness gradually bled through the fog. Strange enough, the temperature around him also started to fell sharply and all the hairs on the back of his neck started to stand on its end!!!
”Oh geez... Let him be some drunkard taking a short cut on his way home..”
Aiden tried to strain his eyes to see through the white mist.
”Sir, are you okay???”
A calm and polite voice of an elderly woman emerged from the fog.
Aiden could not see the other party clearly but he guesses that she either might be a caretaker from the nearby church or the wife of some graveyard keeper.
”Hello ma'am, I am sorry to trouble you. But I can't find my way out of this place.
”Ahhhh..”
The elderly said as she draws closer to Aiden.
”These night fogs can be quite disorienting. Here, take my arm and I will lead the way.”
”Thank you..”
Aiden said politely as he takes the other party's arm before he added quickly,
”My friend is waiting for me at the gate..”
Well, of course, he still can't rule out the possibility that this old lady is a disguise, but in reality, she was a creeper too.
So he must be vigilant and play his cards well.
Better safe than sorry.
The two started moving through the thick fog and after some time, Aiden can't help but notice how cold and damp the other party's arm was.
The sleeve of her sweater felt like she had been standing out in the rain for a couple of hours already.
But if his memory is not failing him yet, Aiden did not recall any rain or even a drizzle that night.
”Are you a caretaker of this place???”
He started a conversation as he plans to sound her out.
”In a way, yes... I have been watching over this place for the past three hundred years.
”T-th- THREE HUNDRED YEARS?!!!!”
Aiden cried out as he can't stop himself from stuttering due to his bewilderment.
He wanted to confirm to the other party if that is what she really said or if he just heard it wrongly.
”Yeah, although I spend most of my time sleeping underground”
”Sleeping underground... Well, Uhmmm... I think I can find my way out from here. HEHE...”
Aiden forces a smile despite how creep out he was already deep inside him.
He tried to pry his hand away from the other party but the elderly lady had no plans of letting him go that easy.
”Oh no, my dear. The ceremony is about to start and you are the guest of honor.”
When Aiden heard that, he instantly let go of the other party's arm and he started to back away from the senile old lady.
”Sorry, but I got other plans. Maybe we could do this some other time.”
”NO!!!”
The other party cried and grab hold of Aiden's arms
”You must come with me...”
”I'm sorry, I really can't.”
Aiden replied as he tried to tug himself away from the elderly lady.
”It is too late to go back now..'
”Okay, you are now scaring me so I gonna go.”
”You can't,”
The other party sigh before continuing
”The curse is upon you, my dear. There is no way of escaping it now.”
For the first time, Aiden looked down at the other party's finger which was wrapped tightly around his wrist.
”Hey! What's wrong with your arm??? The skin, its gray!!!”
”It is death.”
Aiden thought that the other party was kidding him.
