”The boss gave me a purpose.” Mim spoke up.

”A purpose...?” Janine turned to him.

”Yep.” He closed his eyes smiling.

”That's nice and all, but how about a paycheck?” She frowned.

Mim quickly turned to Larkin.

”Yeah...how 'bout a paycheck?” He said, givingan annoyed smile.

”Why don't you do something besides laying around, and perhaps then I'll consider it.” Larkin glared.

”Ok, well I'm out.” Janine said, getting up.

”W-wait!” Larkin cried.

”You'd be the brains of the operation, and if you do the work, I will be more than happy to pay you!” He exclaimed.

”Plus, we get free housing here.” Mim shrugged.

”Janine please, we need you.” Larkin said, grabbing her hand.

Janine's eyes widened.

”Y-you...” She stammered.

”Need me...?” She whispered.

”I know we can count on you and your mind.” Larkin said.

”Really...?” She asked.

”Y-yes really!” Larkin exclaimed.

”I wouldn't have chosen you if I didn't find you as the right fit for our team.” He smiled.

Tears welled in Janine's eyes.

”Yo, somethin' wrong JJ?” Mim asked.

”No, it's just...” She took her glasses off, wiping away a tear.

”I've never been needed before...” She smiled.

Larkin and Mim turned to each other and smiled.

”Welcome to the team, Janine.” Larkin said, closing his eyes.
