Ruito: “Because there’s really no point in continuing this part of the conversation, I’ll accept that you are a G.o.d. Please continue your story under that a.s.sumption.”
Woman: “Well it’s not like you can’t protest against it. So the reason I’ve appeared before you is because I want you to serve under me from now one.”
That’s a common story setting in novels, I think as I drink more coffee. Whether it’s light novels or web novels, it’s definitely not going to be a unique story. Although to kill time I would think that it’s pretty close to optimal reading material, at least i think so. After all the stories aren’t over complicated, no no need for thinking. Easy to read, no need to stress and yet still filled with a decent amount of reading material to take up time. That’s good reading. That’s also the situation placed before me. A woman claiming to be G.o.d right in front of my very eyes came out of nothing and asked for my service.
Ruito: “Before you tell me what you want me do, I have one thing to ask you.”
Woman: “What would that be?”
Ruito: Pointing at the car b.u.mper floating in the immediate vicinity of my head. “By chance does this have anything to do with you, miss?”
In the typical setting of light novel with this fantasy setting, the meeting with the G.o.d is usually done after the death of the protagonist. Sometimes even the Hero would die by G.o.ds mistake or in order to send the hero to G.o.d, the hero was killed deliberately. I can’t help but think that this situation is somewhat similar. Unceremoniously she dismisses my question right away.
Woman: “I was not at all involved with this situation.I was looking for a suitable person and came upon your circ.u.mstances. I found you to be a suitable person and by chance it just so happens that a car was nearing you when I arrived.”
Ruito: “In other words this is all a result of my own bad luck.”
Woman: “Well I wouldn’t go that far, It’s lucky for me.” She laughs.
I vomit out a deep sigh. Someones misfortune is the good fortune of someone else. Although that appears to be the way of the world, I never thought that I would be involved in such a thing. But the fact that the car plunging towards me is not intentional and purely the result of my own bad luck, leaves me without anyone to hit. There’s nothing left to do but to give up. I drink the rest of my coffee.
Ruito: Holding up empty coffee cup. “Second Helping?”
After a moment of silence, she refills my coffee cup.
Woman: “Too much of that is bad for your health.
Ruito: “Is this a story about my intake of caffeine? It’s a little too late to care about that. After all……”
Glimpsing at the b.u.mper that’s at my eye level spearing towards me, I’m in a somewhat negligent mood.
Ruito: “I won’t be die from cardiac arrest. Even without it aren’t I going to die?” I look at her with an exhausted look. “Rather it’s better for me to drink coffee now than later, since I’m likely not to drink it again. If i’m going to be killed, the only time I can enjoy it is now.”
Woman: “Do not say things like being killed.”
Ruito: “If I’m going to be here, I wan’t as much coffee as I can drink.”
Thinking around the idea of doing what this G.o.d want’s, maybe I can get out of this situation. Otherwise I really will die. That means there won’t be anything to drink anymore, no more coffee.
Ruito: “So G.o.d, what is it that you want me to do?”
Typically in this is when the G.o.d gives a request to the hero. It’s always ambiguous and roughly along the lines of “save the world”, “Go defeat the Demon King that threatens the world.” or “Obtain this item for me.”. Maybe the way to save it will be fresh and new. If not that, then maybe something similar. Then we’ll have a back and forth where she’ll say “Please save the world, you’re our only hope!” and I’ll be like “Of course, if it’s for the good of the people. But maybe it’s best if I don’t reveal my face to the public.” Surprisingly, I’m a getting a little excited for this.
Woman: Locking eyes she leans over the top of the little table and says “Hey, won’t you come to my world and destroy it?”
Ruito: “Are you sure you’re not a Devil?”
Finis.h.i.+ng my sentence she immediately changed facial expressions and started pouting with puffed cheeks.
