Chapter 21 (2/2)

Since he already casted the barrier, he could no longer use his ability. The only thing left was his physical ability.

He saw the enemies step forward to meet their charge, and he saw the charging Minions crash into the enemy Minions.

Tuhng!

As if they were used to using the s.h.i.+elds by now, no Minions fell over after the first engagement.

Lee-joonhyuk was relieved when he saw this then he turned towards the enemy Minions to attack.

Before the enemy Minion could react, Lee-joonhyuk’s sword accurately pierced through his neck. Lee-joonhyuk didn’t stop there. He kept advancing.

Lee-joonhyuk saw an enemy swing his axe.  Lee-joonhyuk put his trust in his Rune Stone, and he forcefully brought his sword down.

Tuhng!

The axe couldn’t withstand the power of the downward strike. The axed was knocked down, and he swung his sword as he took a single step forward.

Kwah-kahk!

In the past, his sword would have been stuck within the armor, but now the sword broke the armor as it sliced through his opponent. However, if he used his strength like this then he knew he’ll become exhausted soon.

Lee-joonhyuk retreated since the enemy Minion’s attention were focused on him. The enemy Minions used all their strength to charge after him, but the Minions with the s.h.i.+eld blocked their way.

It was more like he retreated behind them instead of them blocking for him.

An energy bolt flew in from the back, and a single head of an enemy Minion exploded.

Lee-joonhyuk knew Kim-sarang would support him from the back, so he stepped forward again.  There were 20 enemy Minions left.  Atlan and Vera were fiercely attacking Elrick, but Elrick’s body was too st.u.r.dy. He wouldn’t go down easily.

This basically meant it was their duty to take care of the 18 Minions left.

Lee-joonhyuk decided to exert himself a little bit more.  He saw an enemy Minion attack a s.h.i.+eld. After hitting the s.h.i.+eld, he was raising his axe again. Lee-joonhyuk used this opportunity to quickly stab him with his two-handed sword. He couldn’t do anything about the s.h.i.+eld’s tall height, so he had to stab the enemy Minion between the eyes.  After seeing the enemy Minion fall down, Lee-joonhyuk realized this method was a safe way to dispatch the enemies.

It was possible for him to attack with his two-handed sword from behind the s.h.i.+elds. It would have been better if he had a spear, but this weapon was sufficient enough to kill the enemies.

He could stay behind the s.h.i.+eld soldiers, and he could sporadically stab to kill the enemies. What method could be more easier?

Lee-joonhyuk continued to stab from behind the s.h.i.+eld Minions, and the pressure for the enemy Minions decreased as Lee-joonhyuk killed them one by one. Moreover, Kim-sarang was also helping to decrease the number of enemies, so the count of 20 enemy Minions decreased rapidly.

There were only 7 enemy Minions left.

When he thought they were about to win, there was a change.

From the left side of the opponent’s guard tower, he saw a party jump out from the forest, and they were running towards them.

“Atlan!”

Lee-joonhyuk was the first to see it.  Atlan, who was raging against Elrick, heard Lee-joonhyuk’s shout, and his expression stiffened. From afar, he could see the werewolf Warren, and 10 Minions running towards him.

Elrick probably hung on even in his critical condition to wait for Warren.

Atlan yelled when he saw Elrick trying to sneak off.

“Vera. Let’s kill him first then we’ll ask for a.s.sistance from the guard tower.”

“All right.”

A large wall of flame erupted from behind Elrick, and Atlan threw his sword at that moment.

Tuh-tuhng!

The barrier had already disappeared.  Atlan attacked the injured Elrick.  Elrick realized he could extricate himself, so he charged towards Atlan, while he covered his body with his hammer.

Atlan jumped up perpendicularly when Elrick attacked. Elrick pa.s.sed beneath his feet, and Atlan used his sword to cut Elrick’s back as he descended on top of him.

“Koo-ahhk!”

Elrick received a long cut on his back, and he reflexively swung his hammer. His swing was so fierce that Atlan had no choice, but to retreat. Elrick raised his hammer high during the time Atlan had taken a step backward.

“Vera! Dodge it!”

When Atlan’s word ended, he jumped to the side. Elrick’s hammer came down like lightning.

Kwah-kahng!

When Elrick’s hammer hit the ground, there was a large reverberation, and a powerful wave rolled outward with Elrick as the epicenter. It was a wonder that a dying man could still use that much strength. Everyone swept up in the shock-wave staggered backwards.

When everyone was flung backwards, Elrick covered his body with his hammer then he jumped through the wall of flame towards Warren.

Elrick was in a critical condition, but he wasn’t dead yet.

Atlan threw his sword at the escaping Elrick.

The sword flew like a lightning bolt. It embedded itself in Elrick’s injured back, and Vera’s fire spear also reached Elrick at the same time.

“Ggooohahhk!”

Elrick fell with Warren just inches away.  Warren, who was running on four feet, let out a long howl.

Ahh-ooooooooooh.

Accompanying the long howl, Warren increased his speed.  Atlan’s expression hardened.

“Is it possible for you to use the barrier again?”

“I still need 30 more seconds.”

“s.h.i.+t.”

The attack Elrick executed before his death had injured both Atlan and Vera.  Moreover, Atlan had thrown one of his sword to kill Elrick.

Even if their side had one more hero, it wasn’t an easy situation.

“First, let’s retreat to the back.”

If they approached the guard tower, the archers would give them support fire.  He could only put his trust in this as he retreated.

When he was about to retreat, he heard Nodra’s shout.

“Be careful!”

Atlan turned to look, and Grangsha was spinning, while he covered his body with his s.h.i.+eld.  Grangsha was spinning in place when suddenly his scythe started attacking them.

“What the h.e.l.l is he doing!”

Atlan hurriedly covered his body with his sword, then he ran toward Vera. Vera was retreating, but Grangsha’s scythe steadily became larger. Vera and Atlan was swept up by the attack before they could extricate themselves.

Kwa-kwa-kw.a.n.g!

Alan and Vera, who had taken damage from Elrick’s attack, was swept away by Grangsha’s attack.  Moreover, they weren’t the only one being swept away by the shock wave.

Their Minions were also swept up by the shock wave, and they collapsed. The remaining enemy Minions swung their axes.

Amongst the 6 s.h.i.+eld Minions, four lost their lives from the attack. An area attack didn’t affect one’s allies.  Even though a powerful shock wave swept across them, the enemy Minions were perfectly fine.

Lee-joonhyuk was shaken by the shock wave, but he was able to withstand it since he was a Novice.

Lee-joonhyuk stood in front of Kim-sarang as he looked at the enemies.

“s.h.i.+t.”

While Atlan and Vera was retreating because of their injuries, Warren teamed up with Grangsha.
