Chapter 122 - Technique Refinment (1/2)
Things had now reached this point. Will could barely harm them after applying so many limits to himself, even dropping his level further using Alexa's level reducing pen, but he had reached the limits of weakness to the point that if he weakened himself any further and still won, the others would surely lose any and all pride, which was counterproductive. Not to mention Will was also at his limits. Others would argue that such a state had been reached long ago.
”Why did Master have to be so cruel.”
Letty felt pity for the challengers, but she had seen far too many a battle to get moved much by their plight. What really moved her was the sheer level of skill and concentration Will had shown.
”This isn't something a human can do, besides, I think he was crueler to himself.”
Duke could not believe what he had just seen. It was as if Will was evolving into an incredibly efficient beast. Using minimal power to divert powerful attacks. A powerful punch averted by a tap top the sword to the wrist and a carefully timed sidestep. A spell disrupted because the caster had their eye poked. A long-range technique hitting the wrong person because of tripping from a rock that had been thrown with absolute precision. A small cut that triggered defensive reflexes leading to errors.
He never got them truly injured, but he covered their bodies with tattoos of their loss in the most beautiful of ways. Ib and Alexa could not help but be impressed with what they saw. It wasn't what Will had achieved but how quickly he had adapted to each restriction!
In King Yama's Gate Will had fought thousands of battles under different conditions, so his ability to adapt was honed to near perfection. Every restriction he had placed was something he had already experienced multiple times in King Yama's Gate. Except now he was fighting against humans with ingenuity, forcing him to bring out every ounce of his power, or rather, his technique. With an unfamiliar weapon no less. Which begged the question.
If he had been using his real weapon, what would be the result?
Everyone shivered at the thought. Will who was covered in sweat and had some injuries here and there stretched in ecstasy.
”Is that enough ass-kicking for today girls and boys? Hmm? I don't know about you guys but I could really use some lasagna right now.”
Will walked away from the devastated battlefield, swaying from side to side slightly with a swagger in his step. This battle may have seemed one-sided to the others, but Will had felt like he was walking in a tight rope for the majority of the later part. He couldn't use his most familiar skills, so he had to pull his entire being into full concentration. His current sensation was hard to describe, but if it had to be described, it would be…
”Fusing one's body, mind, and soul together.”
Adelda, high above in the skies mumbled to herself.
”Nah, just the beginning, the foundation, but he should be able to go down far on this road, to think he would actually gain benefits from this battle. Amusing! Truly amusing!”
Modus' familiar voice rang in Adelda's ears. She shivered at the thought of what she had just seen.
There were multiple things one could focus on when cultivation. Multiple Dao. What Will had just shown was a small inkling a particularly infamous Dao in the universe.”
