Chapter 30:　Capital City’s Dungeon

The entrance of the dungeon is in the outskirts of the capital city, with better facilities than the one at Koper. Although it’s just have simple beds, several inns had been established, so it seems that a lot of adventurers staying overnight here. With this it seems natural for merchants to gather trying to earn some profits. One of the merchants advertise his products in a loud voice, as it seems like he was selling an interesting tool.

“This is a new lantern. The consumption of the monster cores are less than the normal lantern, not to mention the light produced is far brighter . You won’t be disappointed if you buy this.”

Is it like the difference between fluorescent bulb and LED? Its 3 silver coins when I asked the price. Since the lantern we’re using right now is 1 silver coin, it’s only a little bit expensive. However, lets buy it for now since it looks interesting.

The procedure is the same like the dungeon in Koper, where you give your name and rank, as well as whether the rescue unit is necessary afterwards. Since we have no intention of returning until we achieve our goal, I won’t decide on the time limit. Of course the search unit is unnecessary too.

All of us hide our intentions of defeating the floor master,and when we descend into the dungeon’s 1st floor, it’s jammed full of people.

“What the heck is this…”

Anyway, there’s too many people. There’s adventurers and baggage carriers of various levels. There’s also group of soldiers that seems to be the search unit. This situation is too hectic even for inside a town. Even if you discover a monster, it will just get scrambled by the adventurers. Even if we defeat it, there’s going to be a lot of troublesome thing to settle. It really looks like some kind of Online Game.

“There’s too many adventurers, it’s going to be troublesome to raise our levels with our low reputation.”

Lelena complained while looking amazed. In this kind of situation, its useless unless we go down on the lower floor right? We head towards the lower floor with tired feelings. When we finally thought that the people had decreased, we already  arrived at the 10th underground floor.

“It finally looks like a dungeon. Is it alright to suddenly start from the 10th floor? There seems to be considerably stronger monsters here.”

Although we cannot be sure since we haven’t found any enemies yet, the surroundings feels a bit better with the new lantern. As expected people will get stressed easily while being surrounded by darkness. Since there’s no safety zone, we decided to rest for a bit at a slightly large pa.s.sage.

Half a day had pa.s.sed. We haven’t encountered any monsters, this is likely due to the road are maintained as there are a lot of adventurers. We should still be able to survive with our food.

We also met a couple of parties while we’re taking a rest. There’s several huge bad looking men, a brown girl with silver hair that have a slave crest, totaling 5 people, including a Beastman little girl that looks like a 6 years old. While I observe thinking that it’s the usual combination, the huge man glared at me. What’s wrong with this guy? You wanna fight?

He clicked his tongue with a “tch” and left after I glared back. As I’ve confirmed that all of their members haven’t reached Level 20 yet, they might have thought it’s going to be bad having to go against us.

“Have you seen that guy just now?”

“Yeah. I’ve once gone with them on a party. You’ve seen that slave right? He used the slave bought with money as a s.h.i.+eld and use them till the end of their lives.”

According to Amyl’s explanation, there’s that kind of circ.u.mstances.

They first buy a slave that can fight for them. However, the slave with high fighting power had high pride and possess great mental strength. There’s a chance that they won’t obey the orders. Although I heard that the slave that go against their master’s orders will receive various type of pain on their whole body from the slave crest, the slave with strong willpower might be able to overcome it.

Therefore one of the effective method to control the slave is by using a hostage. They’ll kill the hostage if the slave refuse to obey. Thus they’re ordered to fight even if they hate it.
