Chapter 71 (2/2)
Oh right, you haven’t ate your dinner have you, come and enjoy it with me” Wu Wenxiang invited Qin Lang into the dining room, where, there are two women dressed in red cheongsams were busy doing things such as serving and receiving orders.
“Qin Lang looked at their badges,”Munic.i.p.al Government Guest house” being written on them.
With the two women’s deft hands, food quickly arrived at their table.
At this time, Wu Wenxiang helped his mother come over as she was bound to a wheelchair, a blanket on her legs.
“How did this happen, auntie?” Qin Lang remembered the last time he had visited, Wu Wenxiang mother was still healthy and on her two feet.
“I had a rheumatism attack yesterday.” Granny Yan explained,”
“Yesterday rheumatism attack.” Yan Granny exclaimed, “My bones are no longer young and so is my body. It had rained yesterday, causing my rheumatism to relapse. *Sigh* It looks like I don’t have much longer to live do I …… “
“Mother. why do you say this? Medicine is much more advanced nowadays, there should be no problem for you to live much longer.” Wu Wenxiang comforted her.
“Don’t give me that nonsense about how medicine has advanced, they can’t even cure my rheumatism.” Granny Yan snorted, “Looking back, it would have been a better idea to get a chinese doctor to see me, those western doctors can not be trusted ……”
“Those chinese doctors are mostly frauds-“
“Now, Mayor Wu, you can’t say that without proper evidence.” Qin Lang could not help but interrupt Wu Wenxiang words, “Chinese medicine is not a fraud, when we did not have western medicine, did China not still function perfectly fine? “
“Exactly, you may be a big Mayor, but I think it’s still little Qin that knows better.” Granny Yan grunted, and then motioned towards the two waiters and said, “Girls, you have been busy for the whole day, come and eat with us. “
“Honoured madam, enjoy your meal, we still have to work.” The two waitress would never dare to eat with the mayor, thus excused themselves quickly.
“Yeah, this is their job.” Wu Wenxiang said, “but I will make sure they get an extra bonus at the end of the month.”
The two waitresses were overjoyed, and hastily thanked him.
Qin Lang was unsure of why Wu Wenxiang had invited him for dinner today, but he had a inkling that it was related to what had happened earlier today. As Wu Wenxiang has not opened up, Qin Lang would obviously not take the initiative to prompt him.
A meal was a meal, and while others might be concerned with matters such as manners or etiquette while dining with the Mayor, this was of no concern to Qin Lang who ate in large mouthfuls as normal.
“Little Qin, you should eat a bit more, else the food would be wasted.” Seeing Qin Lang ravenously devouring the food on the table, Granny Yan was very pleased. She disliked seeing Wu WenXiang order a full table of dishes, yet not even lifting his chopsticks. Granny Yan used to belong in a farmer’s family, and thus disliked food wastage the most.
Before they even finished their dinner, the doorbell rang.
Wu Wenxiang hesitated for a while before opening the door.
“Dear Mayor, why have you took the initiative to open the door, it’s rare to see you being this nice.” Outside stood two men, one of which is impressively Cai Weidong, which face was still swelling slightly, while the other looked to be middle-aged, sharing a fairly similar appearance with Cai Weidong, probably his father.
“So you are Old Cao, no need to be polite, come right in.” Wu Wenxiang said politely on the surface.
