The curtains were drawn shut and it was dark, so she couldn't make out what was inside.

She collected herself and took a deep breath, preparing to enter.

But at this point, Auntie Li's voice came from downstairs, ”Madam? Where are you, Madam?”

Qiao Lian, who was about to step over the threshold of the room, now quickly retracted her foot and turned around.
