Insurrection Outbreak

1 month later

“……Was my reign a mistake?”

A man at his wit’s end sits weakly into his chair. He’s a man who laughs bitterly at the white hair that is mixing into his golden hair recently but, now he looks older than he usually is because of the exhaustion. The man’s name is, Mestoa the Seventh. This Mestoa Kingdom’s King. And the father of me, Henrir・Mestoa.

The reason Chichiue1 became like that is the fault of a certain letter at hand. A soldier who entered the conference room in a hurry during the conference held every morning was the start of the matter.

Originally, entering is not allowed during a conference that discusses the country’s matter unless it’s significant but, we have him enter because he said it’s the country’s crisis and, the contents of it was something unthinkable.

Put simply, it’s an insurrection by the n.o.bles who govern the southern region. Furthermore, the territories shouldering our country’s main industry, fishery, are all partic.i.p.ating in the insurrection.

The n.o.bles who partic.i.p.ated in the insurrection are, 20 n.o.bles comprising the southern region, the Marquis who is a great n.o.ble is also being included amongst them.

“Your Highness. We should discuss this matter with our allies, no?”

“……That won’t do. Something like asking for help because there’s an insurrection, although they are allies, they will bring their soldiers in without any restraint if we tell them. And then, I am certain that they will impose unreasonable demands for their merits on suppressing it. Especially towards the fishery’s prices that are unique to our country”

Indeed, there are hefty taxes on the exportation of marine products that are obtainable in this country. The reason is, it costs quite a lot to deliver it freshly as it is without salting or the likes. Because of that, if the prices of the goods aren’t set high, the original cost isn’t recoverable and selling to other countries will have no benefits.

Naturally, because there are also multiple disputes with the allies regarding that matter, I can say for certain that if we ask them this time, that topic will certainly arise.

But, it’s as the Cabinet Minister said, there are also parts that are difficult if we don’t rely on the allies to break through this current situation.

“……For now, the allies’ matter will be temporarily on hold. General. What is the rough number of soldiers that can be mobilized immediately?”

“Haa, if we combine the capital’s soldiers and the soldiers of the surrounding n.o.bles then it will probably be about 12 thousand. I think the number will almost double if there is a week”

“Fumu, the General will prepare the troops to be ready for the worst case. Prime Minister, send an envoy to the ringleader. It’s still in time if it’s now”

“Understood, Your Highness”

Listening to Chichiue last words, the Cabinet Ministers leave the room for the sake of a counter-plan. The only one left in the room is the Chichiue who is seated deeply into his chair with an exhausted expression and me.

“……Henrir, you prepare as well. Since you’ll have to fight in the worst case’

“I understand. But, I just want to say this. I do not think Chichiue’s reign was a mistake”

I say just that and leave the room. I totally don’t think Chichiue made mistakes in his politics until now. He’s also popular amongst the people, a Chichiue who’s being yearned for. It won’t be that way if it’s a mistake.

The problem is the n.o.bles who are inducing this meaningless insurrection. In the letter, it only wrote of how they can’t accept Chichiue as the king. They induced this sort of insurrection for a cryptic reason like that. There’s no way I can forgive them.

I return to my own room while thinking about the matters from now on. Over there stood Yunez, my attendant and childhood friend.

“Your Highness Henrir, have you heard?”

“Of course. It’s an uproar within the Royal Palace because of that matter. Then, what’s the situation?”
