Chapter 37 (2/2)
Shen Mochen opened a storage cabinet and took out an antique pocket watch. He popped it open and looked at the photo inside, his eyes darkened a little.
The next day, the arrest of the sexual predator was all over the news.
Shui Miaomiao ate the deep-fried dough sticks with soy milk while punching numbers into the calculator. She was calculating how much money she had left for the rest of the month.
Yanyan’s school transfer would cost too much. She could not afford it so she wouldn’t consider it for now.
If she wanted to move, she usually would have to pay the rent for at least a quarter, not to mention the moving cost and deposit.
She would also need to rent her current apartment out so that she wouldn’t lose too much money.
It turned out that she was still short of 3,000 Yuan.
Yanyan was yawning as he came out of his room. He climbed up to the dining table with sleepy eyes and reached for a deep-fried dough stick right away.
“Yanyan,” Shui Miaomiao squinted, looked at her son with cunningness glimmering in her eyes, and asked smilingly, “how much savings do you have? Lend me some.”
When Yanyan heard Shui Miaomiao talking about money, his eyes lit up instantly. He said vigilantly, “My money is supposed to be used as your dowry so that you won’t be looked down upon by your in-laws. Don’t you lay a finger on my money.”
Shui Miaomiao was quite touched, she hugged Yanyan’s tiny shoulders and said, “I don’t need dowry, we will stick together forever. It’s a Mayday situation, I’m being hunted down. Let’s move to another place and hide for a while.”
Yanyan’s put one of his palms on Shui Miaomiao’s forehead, and the other on his own to compare the temperatures, “Mom, are you high? Who would be stupid enough to hunt you down? Is it the rich guy in a Bentley yesterday?”
Yanyan’s eyes twinkled when they came to this topic. He asked excitedly, “Is he my dad?”
Shui Miaomiao slapped him on his head, her face hardened, “Stop talking nonsense, are you gonna lend me the money or not?”
Yanyan held his head and said pitifully, “I only have 200, I’ll give 100? I need to save some to buy you food.”
