Chapter 18: She Becomes Blind (1/2)

”Don't push me anymore! Don't...”

Xu Zijin shook her head and bit her lips. Her breathing became heavy and uneven and she perceive the metallic taste of blood in her mouth. Tears rolled down her cheeks and dripped onto the man's naked chest. He felt as if an unseen b.u.t.terfly had flown into his heart and touching a very raw nerve indeed.

Fu Sinian gently wiped away her tears with his slender, callused fingers. Her tears caused him a great deal of heartache and his fingertips trembled uncontrollably.

”Zijin... Don't cry...” he said soothingly.

He never meant to hurt her but she had always suffered because of him.

Xu Zijin started crying even louder.

She had been expecting for his gentleness for more than twenty years. But when the day arrived, she only felt a sense of emptiness. Destiny was so cruel to her.

”Ah!”

She screamed and withdrew the sharp knife from his chest.

Blood splashed on the white sheet like the red plum blossoms set off by the white snow.

The metallic smell of blood lingered in the air, which brought her thoughts back to the day she had been forced to abort her child.

Hatred of him, for old and new wrongs, welled up in her heart and she squealed, ”Why did I meet you? How could I fall in love with you? How could I have been so stupid? Fu Sinian, I hate you! And I can't hate you more!”

She hated this man to the extreme.

How could he have been so cruel and ruthless to her? How could she have been so blind that she even had taken him for a gentleman? In reality, he was a perfidious man.

Suddenly, a bolt of white lightning crackled through the black sky and then a loud crash of thunder broke the silence of the night. A fierce gale sprang up and the rain commenced pouring violently down.

Xu Zijin rushed madly into the heavy rain.

The servants were roused from sleep by her footsteps. They went upstairs, startled to see Fu Sinain lying in pool of blood.

”Oh my G.o.d! Mr. Fu, are you okay? Call an ambulance quickly!”

Fu Sinian struggled to get out of the bed. The wound was bleeding profusely and stained his bare chest red.

”Don't let her go... Leave me... Go and bring her back.”

The servants dared not to chase Xu Zijin who was, in their eyes, a madwoman. No one wanted to approach her because she had a sharp knife in her hand.
