Chapter 6: Kneeling At Mu Anans Graveside (1/2)
”Sinian…” A dizziness overcame Xu Zijin who felt limp and faint. She gritted her teeth to stay conscious and said, ”The Xu Consortium has gone bankrupt and my father is ill in the hospital. I'm told that you are behind all this but I don't believe that. You are my husband. You wouldn't have harmed my father.”
Xu Zijin's voice was soft and firm as if to convince herself that Fu Sinian was not the chief plotter.
”We are a family,” she murmured.
Fu Sinian finally raised his head and looked at her with a familiar smile. However, she couldn't see any traces of warmth and affection in his eyes; instead, she felt a chill creeping over her.
He detached her hand from his sleeve and gave her a mocking smile. ”Xu Zijin, how can you be so naive?”
As the words fell from his lips, she felt her brain in buzz as if all memories about him broke into splinters.
She looked up at the man who wore a look of sarcasm as if to laugh at her naivety and stupidity, her blood running cold with disappointment.
Xi Zijin finally realized that she had been deluding herself for a long time. She had loved this man for twenty years, so she subconsciously refused to face the reality.
But now she had to admit that her beloved husband was the one who bankrupted the Xu Consortium and caused her father to be critically ill.
”No…” Xu Zijin shook her head and stared at Fu Sinian with imploring eyes, ”This is not true. Sinian, don't scare me. I know you hate me because I forced you to marry me. You thought that I caused the death of Mu Anan. My love for you is like a cage suffocating you, and you want to get rid of me. It's all my fault. I know I was wrong. From now on, I will stop loving you and keep away from you. Please let my father off. I beg you!”
While saying that, she recollected what he said to her in the hospital--”Zijin, this is only the beginning.”
He had fooled her and robbed her father of the Xu Consortium. Their marriage was just a conspiracy.
Fu Sinian curved his lips into a sarcastic smile.
'Let Xu Yuanshan off? More than twenty years ago, thirty-two people of the Fu clan died distressingly because of him. A few days ago, his daughter caused Anan's death. How can I forgive him?'
Fu Sinian looked at Xu Zijin, his eyes burning with strong hatred.
Suddenly, he reached out to grab her hair and pulled her closer to the car window.
She looked into the window and saw a black and white framed photograph on the back seat.
It was Mu Anan.
In the photograph, Mu Anan wore a dazzling smile as if jeering at her, ”Xu Zijin, you are a loser.”
